Votto's 14 game hit streak is in jeopardy, but, he has drawn 3 walks today. Including one in the 7th with men on 1st and 2nd and the Reds down a run. Marty and Thom must be fuming...

edit: hopefully, they are fuming no longer. Grand Slam by Mighty Scooter!
edit, edit: followed by a solo shot by Eugenio! 7-3 Reds
   2. Don August(us) Cesar Geronimo Berroa Posted: August 10, 2017 at 03:24 PM (#5510709)
Cozart with a 2 run bomb in the 8th, giving Votto another chance! And, Joey delivers with his 31st hr! Hitting streak is alive!

10-3 Reds going to the 9th.
   3. Bote Man Posted: August 10, 2017 at 03:36 PM (#5510720)
"He's paid to hit home runs, yet all he does is walk. I can't believe it!"

-- Marty Brennaman, probably
   4. Don August(us) Cesar Geronimo Berroa Posted: August 10, 2017 at 04:20 PM (#5510762)
That sounds more like Thom, actually. Marty would be more acerbic.
   5. The Yankee Clapper Posted: August 10, 2017 at 05:21 PM (#5510822)
The Yankees outfield glut was thinned a bit with Clint Frazier going on the DL with an oblique strain. Aaron Hicks, who had been on a rehab assignment, was activated, apparently 1 day earlier than previously planned. Hicks could be a big boost if he can replicate his pre-injury form, when he was the team's second best position player.
   6. Cowboy Popup Posted: August 10, 2017 at 05:58 PM (#5510849)
Salazar, Rodon and Paxton pitch tonight. Paxton has obviously been spectacular much longer than the other two but all three are really humming right now. I'm hoping to catch at least pieces of each game since I'll be working well into the night. Should be pretty entertaining.
   7. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 10, 2017 at 07:15 PM (#5510888)
Judge is like the Giants' Hunter Pence ... the dude who sucks with sliders, and is also not anything ok in RF.

Aaron Judge sucks !
   8. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 10, 2017 at 07:17 PM (#5510891)
And Donaldson is a traitor , hang him high above Rogers' Centre !

Gregorious ! Didi, you ######' Athlete !
   10. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 10, 2017 at 07:23 PM (#5510895)
Sonny Gray was a good move , to the Yanks, or the Giants.
Hope Gray fits in, I like the Sonny Yankee attitude !
   11. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 10, 2017 at 07:24 PM (#5510897)
Gray is the better Tanaka !
   12. Cowboy Popup Posted: August 10, 2017 at 07:26 PM (#5510900)
Salazar's first K is on a 84 MPH diving change after pumping the zone with mid-90s heat. Wowsers.
   13. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 10, 2017 at 07:27 PM (#5510901)
The Blue Jays casters are so retarded. How can anyone talk such crap ?!
   14. Cowboy Popup Posted: August 10, 2017 at 07:34 PM (#5510905)
Missed Salazar's second K. Darn.
   15. 'Spos Posted: August 10, 2017 at 07:48 PM (#5510912)
Sonny Gray really Lestered that throw to second.
   16. cardsfanboy Posted: August 10, 2017 at 07:48 PM (#5510913)
horrible defensive inning for the Cardinals.. Wong makes an error, Yadier followed that with a poor decision/throw to get the lead runner on a bunt attempt, a single, then a routine fly ball to centerfield that both the center fielder(Fowler) and right fielder(Martinez) could have made routinely, while both assumed the other would get it, and it dropped 10 feet between both of them as they just jogged after it.
   17. cardsfanboy Posted: August 10, 2017 at 07:49 PM (#5510914)
And then a good defensive play with a hit to the third baseman for a 5-2-3 double play. Only one run has scored so far.
   18. cardsfanboy Posted: August 10, 2017 at 07:55 PM (#5510919)
Cardinal announcers talking about Votto "maybe that will silence some of the critics, that he isn't hitting for enough power or taking too many walks." (or something similar to that) Al: "We'll take him."
   19. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 10, 2017 at 07:58 PM (#5510921)
OK, Blue Jays casters are drunk beyond hell or dumb beyond Georgia State !
   20. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 10, 2017 at 07:59 PM (#5510922)
Let's go, Didi !
   21. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 10, 2017 at 08:01 PM (#5510923)
Didi is my favorite player ! He is just athletismn and coolness in one !
Go Didi !
   22. cardsfanboy Posted: August 10, 2017 at 08:05 PM (#5510925)
Lance Lynn hit by a comebacker, but he bounced right up after being hit...not sure where it hit him, but it was high on the body.... it looks like it hit him dead center on the forehead.
   23. cardsfanboy Posted: August 10, 2017 at 08:06 PM (#5510927)
If he isn't wearing the insert now, I'm pretty sure he'll be wearing it in his next appearance.
   24. cardsfanboy Posted: August 10, 2017 at 08:14 PM (#5510934)
Molina just picked off Cain at second base.... Cain has been caught stealing only one time this year, and he gets picked off by the catcher....at second base.

Also drawback in the decision to not just sprint to third after he was picked off, Wong caught him and tagged him out, if he ran as soon as he realized that Yadier threw to second, he might have been safe at third.

Description of play, men on first and second, pitch to the batter, and Cain is probably 15-20 foot away from second base...Yadier stands up to throw the ball back to the pitcher, and Cain takes a step or two to second base, then stops and starts to position himself for the next pitch...Wong moves towards second base and instead of throwing it back to the pitcher, Yadier throws it to Wong at second, Cain is at least 4 steps away from second base and is in no position/attitude to get back to the bag and is dead in the water.... he then decides he might as well go to third....and runs to third, but Wong having momentum catches him and tags him out about 10 feet from the third base bag. This wasn't about Yadier's arm, it's just heads up baseball catching people who are treating routine situations like routine situations.
   25. 'Spos Posted: August 10, 2017 at 08:28 PM (#5510947)
Sonny Gray almost Lesters another.
   26. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 10, 2017 at 08:32 PM (#5510948)
If Sonny Gray sucks with the Yanks, he might as well join the ####### Red Sucks !
   27. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 10, 2017 at 08:38 PM (#5510953)
YES !
   28. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 10, 2017 at 08:44 PM (#5510958)
Sonny Gray will #### up the Todgers record season !
   29. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 10, 2017 at 08:48 PM (#5510964)
Marco Estrada sucks !
   30. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 10, 2017 at 08:49 PM (#5510968)
Oh come on, retard Blue Gays !
   31. He who brought the butter dish to Balshazar (CoB) Posted: August 10, 2017 at 08:51 PM (#5510971)
Yankees continue to add to their MLB leading RISP (since the All-Star break) fails.

This team makes me want to kick puppies right now.

Rat-#######-pathetic.
   32. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 10, 2017 at 08:52 PM (#5510972)
Judge gets ###### over ! WTF idiot Ump ?!
   33. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 10, 2017 at 08:52 PM (#5510973)
Do you get paid for ####### calls ?!
   34. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 10, 2017 at 08:53 PM (#5510974)
Nobody should pay those fat slobs for ####### calls !

AT-AT at bat@AT&T is like a Bizarro World gamingboy. I like it.
   36. phredbird Posted: August 10, 2017 at 09:01 PM (#5510978)
Oh ffs... martinez drops the third out w men on base. We were gonna get out of the inning.
   37. He who brought the butter dish to Balshazar (CoB) Posted: August 10, 2017 at 09:09 PM (#5510982)
More RISP fail by Failsbury.
   38. He who brought the butter dish to Balshazar (CoB) Posted: August 10, 2017 at 09:11 PM (#5510983)
MORE RISP fail, this time by Cooper.
   39. phredbird Posted: August 10, 2017 at 09:12 PM (#5510984)
Hammel doesn't run out a grounder, I hope he doesn't get choked by a teammate.
   40. salvomania Posted: August 10, 2017 at 09:13 PM (#5510985)
To be fair, Phred, Martinez isn't really an outfielder and if he had made that catch we'd all be saying what a great catch it was
   41. He who brought the butter dish to Balshazar (CoB) Posted: August 10, 2017 at 09:13 PM (#5510986)
If this is what we've got, we're going to get murdered this next week and a half.
   42. phredbird Posted: August 10, 2017 at 09:20 PM (#5510989)
Oops forgot he's a pitcher. They get a little slack. Cards behind in a very frustrating game. Fowler doubles home dejong as I type this. We're back in it!
   43. phredbird Posted: August 10, 2017 at 09:22 PM (#5510991)
Salvo, c'mon. It hit him in the glove. Referring to martinez in 36 and hammels in 42 in case anyone is confused.
   44. cardsfanboy Posted: August 10, 2017 at 09:26 PM (#5510993)
This game is not going to be remembered for it's great fundamentals. first and third, no outs, a one bouncer to the pitcher, stares runner back to third, then throws the ball to the centerfielder(not the second baseman) turning an easy double play, in a 3-1 game, and holding the runner at third into first and third no outs 3-2..
   45. phredbird Posted: August 10, 2017 at 09:26 PM (#5510994)
Oh mama! The baseball gods give, the bb gods take. Moylan throws away a dp ball! 3-2 royals but cards on base nobody out.
   46. cardsfanboy Posted: August 10, 2017 at 09:29 PM (#5510995)
Wong ties it with a fly ball... that is what you need to do at home, play for the tie, you always get another at bat.
   47. Greg K Posted: August 10, 2017 at 09:30 PM (#5510997)
The Blue Jays casters are so retarded. How can anyone talk such crap ?!

Normally I'd just assume this is accurate even though I'm following the game on GameDay. No one belts out the meaningless platitudes like Pat Tabler. But Dan Shulman is doing the play-by-play today...he's usually on the ball.
   48. cardsfanboy Posted: August 10, 2017 at 09:30 PM (#5510998)
(actually, regardless of the baseball truism, after the 6th inning, I believe you always play for the tie and hope you have the better team)
   49. phredbird Posted: August 10, 2017 at 09:32 PM (#5510999)
glad matheny stayed w lynn. He could still win it.oops I'm wrong. In comes bowman. But atleast its a ND for lynn after a lot of bad luck.
   50. cardsfanboy Posted: August 10, 2017 at 09:59 PM (#5511009)
2nd and 3rd and no outs in the bottom of the 7th of a 3-3 game, I'm liking our odds to take the lead here.
   51. phredbird Posted: August 10, 2017 at 10:00 PM (#5511010)
Phamtastic! Runners on thecorners nobody out!
   52. cardsfanboy Posted: August 10, 2017 at 10:02 PM (#5511011)
They walk Dejong (unintentionally) to face Fowler, who has been pretty hot since his recall. Bases loaded no outs. If this was June, I would assume the Cardinals wouldn't score a run, now I feel pretty confident here.
   53. cardsfanboy Posted: August 10, 2017 at 10:02 PM (#5511012)
And as I'm typing that, the Cardinals take the lead 7-3 Cardinals on a Fowler big fly.
   54. cardsfanboy Posted: August 10, 2017 at 10:03 PM (#5511013)
Infield playing in on that at bat.... it went a long way....
   55. chisoxcollector Posted: August 10, 2017 at 10:03 PM (#5511014)
Yoan Moncada is batting .190 with a .365 obp. He has 11 hits and 14 walks.
   56. cardsfanboy Posted: August 10, 2017 at 10:05 PM (#5511015)
Cardinals have now scored 53 runs in their past 6 games.... (with two more innings minimum to go in this game, as it's still the 7th inning and no outs)
   57. phredbird Posted: August 10, 2017 at 10:09 PM (#5511020)
My stupid nook is not working so I was typing when fowler hit the GS.
   58. ERROR---Jolly Old St. Nick Posted: August 10, 2017 at 10:15 PM (#5511025)
The Yanks just looked pathetic that entire game, swinging wildly at everything with no regard for location. Too many TTO hitters and too many of the bad O. I love Judge, but he's fast approaching Chris Davis territory in terms of automatic 2 or 3 strikeouts a game. They better do something about this #### over the next 21 hours.
   59. cardsfanboy Posted: August 10, 2017 at 10:24 PM (#5511028)
Moss misses a grand slam by about a foot.
   60. phredbird Posted: August 10, 2017 at 10:26 PM (#5511030)
you gotta be ####### kidding me.
   61. phredbird Posted: August 10, 2017 at 10:26 PM (#5511031)
there was NOBODY that could face moss instead of OH?
   62. phredbird Posted: August 10, 2017 at 10:28 PM (#5511032)
jesus mary and joseph
   63. cardsfanboy Posted: August 10, 2017 at 10:28 PM (#5511033)
one run game, man on third for the royals two outs, 7-6 and Cain up to bat who has been an absolute terror in this series.
   64. cardsfanboy Posted: August 10, 2017 at 10:32 PM (#5511034)
Kept the lead, now to expand on it to make it a bit easier for Rosenthal.
   65. phredbird Posted: August 10, 2017 at 10:35 PM (#5511035)
sometimes I just can't watch this team.
   66. cardsfanboy Posted: August 10, 2017 at 10:40 PM (#5511036)
NL July Rookie of the month with a double to get one of those runs back...8-6 Cardinals.
   67. phredbird Posted: August 10, 2017 at 10:40 PM (#5511037)
Dejong!!!
   68. phredbird Posted: August 10, 2017 at 10:45 PM (#5511040)
Still not sure I can keep watching.
   69. cardsfanboy Posted: August 10, 2017 at 10:51 PM (#5511043)
Moose tacos is not helping keep you calm. Tying run up to bat.
   70. phredbird Posted: August 10, 2017 at 10:54 PM (#5511044)
oh god yes yes yes ... whew!!! rosenthal keeps it real ...
   71. cardsfanboy Posted: August 10, 2017 at 10:54 PM (#5511045)
6 in a row, and now one game back of the Cubs, with a three game series coming up against the Braves.
   72. phredbird Posted: August 10, 2017 at 10:55 PM (#5511049)
are we one game out now? this division is nuts.

Dodgers win, again.
   77. LA Podcasting Hombre of Anaheim Posted: August 11, 2017 at 01:22 AM (#5511091)
Cam Bedrosian in for the Angels, first save opportunity since June 28.
   78. LA Podcasting Hombre of Anaheim Posted: August 11, 2017 at 01:29 AM (#5511092)
Bedrosian closes it out, and the Angels are now — somehow — 1.5 games behind the Mariners for the second WC spot, along with the Royals. The Twins are just a game back, the Rays just half a game back.
   79. Joyful Calculus Instructor Posted: August 11, 2017 at 01:36 AM (#5511093)
The Dodgers have come a long way since their early season road woes. A 7-2 road trip feels like "eh, that was alright" now.
