I would listen to this mixtape. Heck, I have almost all this stuff already - not exactly obscure picks - but good, good songs.

Well, this is the best of his best. Sure, not that random, but I was surprised at the depth of his knowledge of music. The man knows his beats. We may have another conversation with him down on the road - deep tracks only!!! Just fer you, K.

Shaft had a theme song, Superfly had a theme song, all those guys had a theme song. If I had to have a theme song, this song would be it!

So would "Brick" have been Ellis's at-bat song?

Man, Roger Troutman's (of Zapp) death -- apparently he was killed by his brother -- was depressing.

Anyway, can't go wrong with Zapp, though I for one would do "Doo Wa Ditty (Blow That Thing") over "More Bounce to the Ounce."

Anyone whose 3rd favorite song is "(Not Just) Knee Deep" would get my HOF vote. It's a good thing I don't have one.

Given my handle I just wanted to express my appreciation for this article as it gets me right where my childhood lives.
