Harwell left out the greatest moment of them all. Sometime in July of 1955, before a near-capacity crowd, Earl Torgeson, not to be confused with Ty Cobb, stole home in the bottom of the ninth to give the Jungaleers their third straight win over the Yankees. To this day, I've never heard a crowd in Detroit go that bonkers. The reason he was able to do this was because at the time, Yankee pitcher Bob Turley was still using the then-common double pump windup. It's a tribute to the general leadfootedness of the AL back then that scores of runners a year weren't able to do the same thing. Good old Bullet Bob finally got clued in by the end of the next year,adopted the no-windup motion, and for about 2 1/2 years after that pitched at a very high level, winning the Cy Young in '58 and either winning or saving the last 3 games in the World Series that year.

I can remember a couple highlights from the 1990s, but nothing between the day Cecil Fielder hit his 50th and 51st homers of the season until the last game in Tiger Stadium.
