ESPN / AP: Braman says Marlins stadium should be privately financed

MIAMI—Art and wine collector, philanthropist, luxury auto dealer, former owner of the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles. Now Norman Braman can add this: staunch opponent of a giant $3 billion public works deal that includes a long-sought stadium for baseball’s Florida Marlins.

Braman is suing to stop Miami’s so-called “global agreement” in its tracks, contending it was illegally hatched in secret and improperly uses money intended to cure urban blight and help poor people. Braman wants voters to decide projects of such magnitude, rather than politicians.

Suing?

lawsuits pushed Petco back a few years. It may be 2020 before Florida gets a new stadium.
What they should do is move them to one of those soon to be vacated stadiums in New York.

call them the Brooklyn Trolley something or others..

I actually think it's in MLB's best interests to move a team to Brooklyn.

Also, all these freakin stadiums should be privately financed!

Oh yeah. And I'd call a Brooklyn team the 42's after Jackie Robinson. It's historic, it's regional, and I think it has a nice ring to it. I am very ready for this to happen. Also, underwater cities and strip clubs in the zero gravity environment of space would be nice.

I love this line in the article

Two things.
1) The Marlins aren't cost-conscious. They're cheap, petty, underhanded, and rich (unfortunately). Cost-conscious means they don't spend money because they are worried about a budget. The Marlins don't spend money because they want to blame Miami for them having to possibly actually pay for their house. The nerve.
2) Every team does this, not just the Marlins.

What I want to know is if Braman agitated for a new stadium for the Eagles. I can't imagine that he didn't - if for no other reason than that every owner with a stadium older than 15 years old does so.

If you ever visit a strip club in Montreal you'll realize the zero-g is entirely unnecessary.
