ESPN: Hall To Honor Dr. Frank Jobe

To be consistent, I’m sure the sportswriters will refer to the Medical Wing of the Hall of Fame:

Dr. Frank Jobe, who developed the elbow procedure known as “Tommy John surgery” that has helped baseball players extend their careers, will be honored during Hall of Fame induction weekend on July 27.

Tommy John will attend the ceremony to help honor Jobe for his impact on the sport. John was diagnosed with a ruptured MCL in his left elbow in 1974 when Jobe tried a procedure in which he removed a tendon from John’s forearm and repaired his elbow.

Good for the hall. Of course they need to do something to help attendance.

This July is shaping up to be a wildly popular celebration of the entire universe of baseball, not just Obvious So-and-So or Overqualified Whoozit who happened to excel at playing it.

Indians drum-hitting bleachers guy, owner of Big League Chew, guy who parachuted into the World Series, and inventor of plastic bobbling technology, check your messages!

does that mean next year Sean Forman gets to be Honored?

(sp may be incorrect)

owner of Big League Chew

You may have heard of him ball four, rather, before.

Honestly, Tommy John should be in the hall just for having the procedure named after him.

No problem honoring Dr. Jobe, but Alexander Fleming may have saved as many MLB careers.

Nothing draws crowds to a out-of-the-way town like announcing you'll be giving an award to an orthopaedic surgeon!

Morganna would listen if the Hall called.

I was hoping they were going to honor Dr. Frank Burns.

These are clever buggers - they're also honoring "42" (which hasn't been released yet) so Harrison Ford will probably show up.

These are clever buggers

As David said in "This is Spinal Tap," "There's such a fine line between being clever and being flop-sweat desperate about the gaping wound needlessly inflicted upon the primary source of your annual revenue." I think I have that quote right.
