Probably ends his tenure as a Royal. He is 32nd all-time in rWAR among #1 overall picks.

Not counting recent draftees, the only ones worse are:

Paul Wilson
Delmon Young
David Clyde
Dave Roberts
Tim Beckham (recent draftee but probably won't pass Luke)
Bryan Bullington
Matt Anderson
Al Chambers
Shawn Abner
Danny Goodwin

Never made the big leagues
Matt Bush
Steve Chilcott
Brien Taylor

Luke could still pass Mike Ivie, Tim Foli, and Bill Almon if he can put together some decent relief seasons.

That's a shame. Last year he seemed to really benefit from simplifying his repertoire and trusting his stuff. He finally finds a role he's successful in, and boom, there goes the elbow.

As a Dodgers fan, Luke Hochevar spurring the Dodgers in 2005 draft so the Dodgers had the unlikely chance of drafting Clayton Kershaw is one of my favorite conspiracy theories.
