ESPN: Mets P Dillon Gee hospitalized

New York Mets right-hander Dillon Gee has been hospitalized in New York, multiple members of the organization confirmed.

A teammate said the issue was believed to be blood-related in Gee’s shoulder. Another member of the organization said Gee was admitted Monday and underwent an MRI, but it was not precisely clear at that point the issue.

Attempts to reach GM Sandy Aldersona and team spokesman Jay Horowitz were unsuccessful.

A woman who answered the phone at Gee’s parents’ home in Texas said father, Kevin Gee, was en route to New York.

Sounds kind of scary. Blood clot, maybe?

A woman who answered the phone at Gee’s parents’ home in Texas said

"Yes, that really is our name. No, it's not short for Galifianakis for something. Yeah? Well, same to you, fella!"

I had the same reaction. Hopefully it's minor but reading the excerpt it sounds like it's more in the realm of "serious health issue" rather than "he'll need surgery and won't return until the 2013 All Star break."

If Gee is out for an extended period of time, do the Mets bring up Harvey?

You know your team's in trouble when you're counting on a six foot invisible rabbit to bolster the rotation.

I know a woman named Gee. It's her first name....or at any rate her English first name. Her Chinese first name is something else.

It is a clot and he's on the DL. From MetsBlog

Dillon Gee will be placed on the 15-day disabled list with a clot in the artery in his right shoulder, the team announced.

Glad they found it that early, before things got worse.

Did they really have to call his parents? Couldn't the press have left them alone; I mean, their son has just been hospitalized. Maybe the jackals could wait a day or two before pouncing.

This is funnier because in Ireland gee is slang for vagina

Adam Rubin says probably won't be Harvey

Matt Harvey isn't on 40-man roster. You can DFA poor Schwinden again. But why promote Harvey for meaningful games for 1-2 start/burn option?

Oh, I expect we will see Miguel Batista's return to the rotation before Harvey is called up. I get the feeling they want to give Harvey another month or so.

Tech #1 walks into the lab. Tech #2 says, "What you got there?" Tech #1 says, "Gee whiz." Tech #2 says, "Sorry I asked." Tech #1 says...

I know a woman named Gee.

I knew a guy named Gee Tam. Almost geeky.

Too late. He's already off the 40.

Nope. The Mets grabbed him on a waiver claim, which means he's still on the 40 man roster.

Nevermind.

By the way, in big news, Chris Schwinden, after four times being claimed, has now cleared waivers. He is a non-40 ?#Mets? minor leaguer.

This is pretty sad. Gee is a really good story in general. 21st round draft pick and he really looked like he was establishing himself.

I don’t think they’ll call up Harvey. TC will probably suggest that Batista start AND pitch the high-leverage innings. He’s got a rubber arm y’know? SandePo will probably give it to Hefner again. Sigh.

This sucks on so many levels: Gee has been solid this year, the in-house replacements suck, and this isn’t the right time and place to bring up Matt Harvey.

Get well soon Dillon.
