ESPN NY: Marchand: Reyes shines on Seinfeld’s big night

Hey, don’t lose your nighttime rerun job. Brutally unfunny.

Seinfeld is probably the Mets’ most famous fan. On SNY, when he wasn’t talking about how great Mets play-by-play announcer Gary Cohen and analyst Keith Hernandez are, or revealing that his favorite Mets moment was Endy Chavez’ catch in the 2006 NLCS, or saying Lady Gaga owes Mets fans an apology, he was praising Reyes.

In the fifth, when Reyes drilled his solo homer to give the Mets a 2-0 lead—which is all R.A. Dickey needed—Seinfeld’s joy could be heard in his voice as Reyes styled around the bases.

“Keith Hernandez is not liking this,” Seinfeld said. “Always whining about the Reyes homers. I love him!”

On Wednesday night, Seinfeld might have been in the house, but Reyes was the biggest star. Mets fans are falling in love, all over again.

Keith Hernandez has a problem with Reyes hitting HRs?

IIRC only to the extent that if Reyes tries for HRs, he is prone to swing under the ball and start flying out.

Last night, when I wasn't cooking a bacon wrapped filet mignon from costco, or watching Invictus, or looking out the window at a possum in my yard, I was drinking too many Tecates.

I knew the Reyes-love was in the air a few weeks ago when the SNY guys started with the "Look at the Mets' record when Reyes scores 1 run or 2 runs or 5 runs...he makes the Mets GO!" stuff.

I bet the Mets' record is pretty good when Henry Blanco scores 5 runs in a game, too.
