ESPN: Prince Fielder in the Body Issue

You don’t have to look like an Under Armour mannequin to be an athlete. A lot of people probably think I’m not athletic or don’t even try to work out or whatever, but I do. Just because you’re big doesn’t mean you can’t be an athlete. And just because you work out doesn’t mean you’re going to have a 12-pack. I work out to make sure I can do my job to the best of my ability. Other than that, I’m not going up there trying to be a fitness model.

Prince is looking pretty good.

I'm glad to see that the "dat booty" tag made it through.

The link itself is possibly NSFW depending upon how prudish the place you work is.

The whole thing is here: http://espn.go.com/espn/bodyissue

Weight: 275 pounds

Leaving one to wonder what he would weigh if he were to put his other foot on the scale too.

My dad has big arms

All the better to scoop up Prince's signing bonus with.

I doubt the fact that I train in MMA intimidates other teams.

Is that even legal? Before I started grad school, I trained in MMA too and as a purple belt jacked up my shoulder pretty good taking an armbar while rolling with one of the black belts.

Prince Fielder and Price Fielder both posing for ESPN Magazine? That's confusing.

I miss the days when I was able to have a 12-pack after a workout. Nowadays the missus looks at me funny when I ask for a second glass of wine.

The missus mocks me to our bartender when I insist on just half a beer at the nextdoor bar after getting back from the game where we both had 2-4. (the bar gives away beers for $1 when you bring in your ticket stub from the Giants or A's game.)

Women are fickle.

I wouldn't want to see a picture of naked me, either.

(Not hatin' on Prince. Naked dudes just aren't my thing.)

I don't get this. Fielder's no underwear model, but he's not hideous or disgusting or anything. He's just a big, strong guy with a moderate gut. At any public beach you're going to see countless men who look a lot worse than Fielder.
   14. BDC Posted: July 09, 2014 at 02:10 PM (#4747092)
Prince is cute, but actually I do look better :)

I still prefer the one of Hanley Ramirez doing his ironing.

arbitol

That is a too much photoshop
   17. Bourbon Samurai Posted: July 09, 2014 at 07:20 PM (#4747528)
Man, this isn't gross or anything. He's got a gut but he looks strong as ####. His tattoos are cool too.

Yep. That kind of reaction says a lot more about the poster than it does about Fielder

Yeah, I concur the Fielder doesn't even have that big of a gut in that picture. Hell, my gut protrudes more than that (well, compared to my chest) and I weigh over 100 pounds less than him.
   20. The Clarence Thomas of BBTF (scott) Posted: July 09, 2014 at 07:51 PM (#4747562)
yep, i weigh much less than him, and he isn't much taller than me. I wish I looked that good.

The whole Body Issue is fun, and I think I'm in love with Aja Evans. There's some truly impressive bodies of all sorts in it, as there usually is.
   21. Never Give an Inge (Dave) Posted: July 09, 2014 at 07:54 PM (#4747565)
Yeah, Prince is in much better shape than I expected. He's no underwear model but you can tell he's a very strong guy.

I'm actually proud of my body and the things it has enabled me to do, but Fielder's has allowed him to get paid millions of dollars for playing baseball. If I were him I'd have no complaints.

Agreed.
All they gotta do now is include "fat" women - powerlifter? shot-putter? - and I'll be convinced ESPN has reached the 21st century.
   24. steagles Posted: July 10, 2014 at 03:32 PM (#4748118)
i'd #### him.
no mouth stuff.

I was texted a funny photoshop of this picture of Prince. He's spinning the Big Wheel on TPIR and Drew Carey is standing next to him with the long stick microphone.

[27]
Just look at him on ESPN's cover, commanding and formidable, his thighs solid like the concrete holding up an ocean pier. His chest and arms are massive. Fielder's muscles, bunched and coiled under the expanse of his thick flesh, curve the lines of his many tattoos. And in the very middle of the page, right there for the world to see, is that which will launch the frantic Photoshopping of innumerable cakes onto innumerable sports nudes. Inescapable and unrepentant, it looks both soft and weighted; it creases over at the pelvis, looming slightly over the tops of those enormous thighs. It's Prince Fielder's belly. And it's freaking people out.
