ESPN: Szymborski: Sim Series: Texas wins it all (INSIDER)

Two weeks ago, we simulated the results of the LCS, picking the Texas Rangers and the Philadelphia Phillies as the most likely to move ahead to the World Series. The Rangers beat the New York Yankees in six games, but the San Francisco Giants, holding the Phillies to just 11 extra-base hits in six games, defied the computer to make their first World Series of the post-Bonds era.
For those that were waiting for another sale to get Insider, Tanga.com has Mag/Insider yearly subscriptions for $2.99. Just use the coupon code SPORTS and the prices drops from like $25 to $2.99.

Nothing against Dan, but I miss the days when Tom Tippett would publish articles like this on the DMB web site and through their newsletter for free.

Shouldn't y'all run this sim 100,000 times just to make sure? :)

I'm surprised to see that Bruce Bochy has a losing career record. He's a good manager, but I guess he was saddled with some poor Padre teams there for a while.

It would be nice if you could get ESPN to allow you to give out X number of free Insider subscriptions to top posters on the site (Mainland, not Lounge)

The idea being that if the top commenters can all read your articles, then they are more likely to comment on the thread. And then other readers, after reading the thread, are more likely to be interested in reading the articles, and more likely to subscribe to Insider.

Since you have their email addresses from registration, you could limit the subscriptions to just those posters, rather than giving out a code that could get improperly used.

Shouldn't they be called Szym-ulations?

Dan, gotta say that I think they homogenize you a bit too much over there at ESPN, but consider the source...

Regarding Lee on short rest, I think the essay would have been much stronger if it had noted that Lee has never made a start in the majors with less than four days rest, and that his ERA is markedly better when he pitches with 5+ days rest. That is still true over the past three years (when he has been CLIFF LEE).

Are you saying that we now know the true identity of TOLAXOR?

Uwe Boll joke that was a little too esoteric
Not by virtue of being a Uwe Boll joke, right? - he's not that unknown.

Dan--didn't suggest that you not play up the idea of Lee on short rest, just noting that this fact would've added an another interesting real-life element to your article. You can bet that if it happens, it'll get mentioned. Just think it would've been nice if you'd been there with it first...

Srul--The mystery of TOLAXOR can be solved by spelling his name backwards. ROXALOT was the handle of a seamhead who used to post in the Usenet forums for heavy metal. He had to SHOUT because they always had the decibel level up so freakin' high that there was no other way to be heard...

Dude, he linked a method to get it for $3! $3 is essentially free. If you don't buy it at $3, either you don't want it at all or you can't afford it because you make 8 cents an hour at the prison laundry.

Yup, that's Larry......
