Speaking as somebody who saw this in person, I can say: It didn't look good. It was a sharp grounder to third-base side that was only stopped due to a nice dive by Danny Valencia, but he was so obviously hobbled and slow-moving that even if he'd gotten by him I wouldn't have been surprised if the left fielder could have thrown him out.

Of course he did, he's on my fantasy team!

For the record, my AL-only team consisted of the following gimps:

Longoria
Santos (keeper)
Baker (before he came down with elbow fun in ST)
Hafner (expected but still)
Morrow
Markakis
Uehera (who got hurt the week after I picked him up)

Awesome thing is that we have only 3 DL slots meaning I have Longoria, Markakis, and Morrow in the starting lineup (Baker has long since been released). Blech!

Does this mean you have no bench spots? Why wouldn't you release Hafner?

The problem with bad beat stories are that the stakes are so inconsequential, just some money. I bet a story about how I lost my wife to an inside straight draw* would work better.

*) Full disclosure: I have never bet a spouse in a poker game. I have on occasion been beaten by an inside straight draw.

There is no bench. 23 starters every week, 9 pitchers and 14 position players. It's a 12 team AL-only league and the waiver wire is filled with junk. So, I could drop Hafner and will if anyone of interest comes available.
