1. Random Transaction Generator Posted: August 01, 2018 at 10:30 AM (#5718966)For now, it only lists one starting pitcher on the major league roster.
That's Tyler Glasnow, who has not started a single game this season for the Pirates (before getting dealt to Tampa).
Mike Moustakas, Wilson Ramos, Manny Machad-O
Robothal, Jon Heyman, rumor mill - let me make a tweet revision
NL East, AL West, just 60 games to go
Rob Osuna, Giles bombed, still more Rays, Chase De Jong
Seunghwan Oh, Kintzler is a spy and catchers in July
Eovaldi, Pressly, Hamels on a new team
Maldonado, Liberatore, oops that's wrong - uh-oh
The Nats didn't have a fire
But the Rays are churning
And the Braves are learning
The Nats didn't have a fire
But the A's are in it
Till the Astros win it
Yet somehow, 107 baseball games have started this year, for Tampa, with someone on the mound. Crazy.
More reason to believe the AL's 14-year-run winning the interleague battle will come to an end this year.
Yup.
I blew my FAAB wad on Escobar... I'm quite pleased to be able to end my MI shuttle of crappy Brewers and Fish there.
Blake Snell - 20 starts (on DL)
Chris Archer - 17 starts (traded)
Ryne Stanek - 16 starts (18 relief appearances, 8 games finished)
Nathan Eovaldi - 10 starts (traded)
Jake Faria - 10 starts (on DL)
Yonny Chirinos - 7 starts (1 relief appearance, 1 game finished)
Sergio Romo - 5 starts (45 relief appearances, 21 games finished)
Ryan Yarbrough - 5 starts (22 relief appearances, 2 games finished)
Wilmer Font - 5 starts (on DL)
Matt Andriese - 4 starts (traded)
Andrew Kittredge - 3 starts (15 relief appearances, 1 game finished)
Hunter Wood - 3 starts (8 relief appearances, 1 game finished)
Anthony Banda - 1 start (minors)
Jonny Venters - 1 start (traded)
So other than Yonny Chirinos, every one of their other "starters" has either been traded, put on the DL, gone to the minors, or been primarily a bullpen "opener".
Yarbrough is a "starter". He has 5 starts, and 12 relief appearances of 4 innings or longer. His 2 GF were both in the 12th inning, where you frequently see starters.
And both the Indians and the Brewers could really use JT Realmuto. Let’s get this done!
We need a new name for this brand new position of non-starter that makes long appearances typically in regular rotation.
I doubt he clears waivers.
I don't think that's it. The only guys I see who had any hope of getting a QO were Machado (obviously), maybe JA Happ, maybe Hamels and (if you're thinking maybe he'll get a 3/$40 offer elsewhere) maybe Brian Dozier. Have they announced the QO amount yet -- I'm guessing it's close to $19 M. Very few players are getting that offer and no relievers this side of Kimbrel/Jansen/Chapman -- Britton might have if not for the injury and poor performance. And then you have guys like Archer, Pham, Osuna, Duvall, Hand, Kela who are still under control for a few years.
There is a lot of "hey let's cash in this reliever before he tanks" and "sure are a lot of teams desperate for an adequate starting pitcher this year" deals so it's still about cashing an asset before it becomes worthless thinking but it's not QO-related.
Will Harper be the only QO this coming fall?
Yasmani Grandal
Gio Gonzalez
AJ Pollock
Michael Brantley
Nelson Cruz
Pat Corbin
Dallas Keuchel
Can you offer a QO if a guy opts out? If so
Elvis Andrus
Jason Heyward
David Price
Might be missing a few
If Jason Heyward opts out, you say "thanks for that speech during the rain delay in Game 7" and get off the phone as quickly as possible before he changes his mind.
