"Psssst! Hey, little girl. Do you want to see what's under all this leather?"

Easily confused with the Mel Hall model. Man, the 1989 Yankees had an outfield that was 2/3 child molesters, didn't they? That's gotta be a rarity.

And surprisingly, despite his appearance, Steve Balboni was not one of them.

At least not that we know of. IIRC, other suspicious mustaches on that team included Mike Pagliarulo, Wayne Tolleson, Ken Phelps and Alvaro Espinoza. Here's hoping Steinbrenner canceled the "kids run the bases before the game" promo.

Beltran looks pissed. I would have been cracking up.

And their second baseman is facing six life sentences.

Steve Sax faces six life sentences.

I had to look it up - well played, Mr. Foley. That is a fine reference.

It's a Simpsons reference: in "Homer at the Bat", the Springfield police conclude that because Steve Sax is from New York he must therefore be responsible for multiple unsolved murders and he winds up serving six life sentences.

Primey for Tom Foley.

Overcompensating for his tiny dick, no doubt.

Or maybe it's necessary to catch his giant balls.

Speaking of interesting use of gloves, I'm not sure whether people have seen this video, but it is pretty damn funny.

If you are over 12 years old and bring a glove to a game, you are a loser.

Right after he catches it, I coulda sworn he was gonna toss it to Beltran just like a player would toss one into the stands.

That would have been awesome. Sadly, probably also would have gotten him ejected.

Anyway, I like this guy. He looked so happy when he caught the ball, then was embarrassed and shy about it, but it was a good moment.

Yikes! I did not know that. How old were the girls? Where did this happen?

Gwynn's glovework in the link is pure genius.

I believe Polonia was convicted of statutory rape while he was still playing, and served a short prison sentence.

In Hall's case, he was convicted of raping a 12-year-old girl who he coached on a basketball team. Other alleged victims also came forward during the trial although I don't know if he was ever tried for those cases. This was a couple of years ago, and he was sentenced to a very long prison term.

I am not proud to admit that I was with a group that heckled Polonia mercilessly from the outfield bleachers after he was convicted. After a few innings of this, he whipped us the bird and we relented for the moment. However, we picked up a second heckle regarding his weak arm. Between innings he was playing catch with one of the other outfielders. He would have to take about 5 steps and heave it as far as he could (with a pretty good rainbow) to reach the other outfielder while the other guy just casually tossed it back to him like it was nothing.

I'm disappointed nobody has mentioned Luis Polonia yet.

Mel Hall and Luis Polonia definitely should have had the children taken away from them.
