Former Major Leaguer Matt Lawton of Gulfport jailed with no bond

Former professional baseball player Matt Lawton of Gulfport is held with no bond in a pending court case involving an apparent family matter.

Lawton, 41, was arrested April 11 and remained in custody Thursday morning at the Harrison County jail.

He is held for an appearance in Harrison County Chancery Court in Gulfport. The case is sealed. The complaint was filed in a court division that handles family disputes, child support and child custody issues.

Lawton has a daughter and son, both under 21.

Lawton’s pro career spanned 15 years, including 12 seasons in the major leagues and two appearances as an All-Star.

No bond? For a Family Court matter? Seems unusual, but details are scant.

I think his kids were already taken away when he was busted for TEH STEROIDS.

Jeezum crow, the '03-'04 Indians' team bus must have run over someone's dog or something. Lawton, Milton Bradley, Angel Santos. Nick Bierbrodt* and Kyle Denney got shot. Jason Boyd had to leave a game because (I assume) he was going to poop his pants on the field.

Crazy.

* - Bierbrodt got shot before he was a member of the 2003 Indians. It's like the universe just knew.
