Former Major League Baseball player Matt Stairs had his home in Maine robbed while he was in New Brunswick for his induction into the provincial sports Hall of Fame.

“They took all kinds of jewellery. There was the NLCS division championship (ring), the American League (ring), the National League ring, my wife’s National League pendant, watches and jewellery and stuff. So there was quite a bit of stuff stolen. We won’t go into the detail how much was stolen, but put it this way, there was enough so it was a felony case.”
Keep your eyes open, Primates. Mob justice!

Either that or he was away in "nota bene". Possibly a deleted chapter from The Phantom Tollbooth.
Heh, I came here expecting NB to stand for anything but New Brunswick and make some claim that NB = New Brunswick and those letters should not be used for any other reason!
"Former MLB Star" is probably what threw me off the Matt Stairs scent.
After they retire anyone who ever suited up becomes a "former MLB star" apparently. In Stairs' case, while he wasn't ever a star, he did have a long and productive career.
Insufferable Princeton man! That's why Rutgers doesn't deign to play you in football anymore.
There is a New Street in New Brunswick, New Jersey ... which I consider the nexus of novelty.
You don't think Stairs had any claim to stardom in 1999? Top 10 in his league in HR (with 38!), and drew some MVP votes...
SI described him as an "emerging star" in 1997.
It's kind of like how any woman in porn is a "porn star."
