FOX: Rosenthal - Cubs’ lineup getting more dangerous

Now, imagine if the Cubs get Brian Roberts, too. A trade for Roberts would transform an underachieving offense into one of the most potent in the National League. The addition of a secondary target, Chone Figgins, could do the same.
...
Of course, it is hardly guaranteed that the Cubs will land Roberts or Figgins — Orioles owner Peter Angelos could veto any deal involving Roberts, and the Angels will only trade Figgins if they acquire a replacement at third base. But if Fukudome becomes, as scouts expect, another Raul Ibanez, the Cubs’ lineup would feature four impact hitters: Fukudome, Soriano Lee and Ramirez, whose contracts will average — ahem — nearly $60 million per season.
...
Speculation out of Japan Tuesday night that the Dodgers had reached agreement with free-agent right-hander Hiroki Kuroda was unfounded, sources said. Kuroda remains a target not only for the Dodgers, but also the Mariners, Diamondbacks and Royals…
...
The Indians showed interest in Cardinals third baseman Scott Rolen, but backed off for the same reasons as the Brewers — the Cardinals’ asking price, Rolen’s injury history and the $33 million remaining on his contract.

I submitted a Dodgers signed Kuroda article. Sorry if that doesn't work out.

Hendry. Leave it to him to wait until players like Figgins and Roberts are 30 before throwing prospects and big contracts at them. He's always had a thing for paying twice for guys on the cusp of free agency (once in prospects to acquire them, then in a big contract to keep them) and I don't think either of these guys is going to work out like Lee or Ramirez did. Both are good players, and way better than Juan Pierre (his last such foray, which didn't turn into anything long-term, thankfully), but I don't see this working out well long-term.

That's more expensive than A-Rod! He's saying the Cubs are paying $240M each year for just four players? Poor Bud Selig would explode if this were correct.
