FOX Sports: O’Connor: Before long, A-Rod will escape from New York

Home Run Baker or Ox Baker…who would you rather take on?

Yet this context is offered as a way of pumping some much-needed credibility into this next absurd prediction:

Alex Rodriguez will be a member of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim by the start of the 2011 season.

OK, maybe not the Angels, and maybe not 2011. But the point is, he won’t be a Yankee for the duration of his 10-year, $275 million contract, not even close.

...A-Rod carries too much baggage to the plate in critical, must-hit situations, and the process is wearing out a fan base still hopelessly in love with the Jeter-led team that built a dynasty around pitching, chemistry, clutch hitting and a commitment to treating little things as big things.

The Yankees will be paying half his salary if he goes anywhere.

A-Rod carries too much baggage to the plate in critical, must-hit situations

So is O'Connor implying that, in critical, must-hit situations, Rodriguez is too busy thinking about Madonna and poker clubs?

Or is he commenting literally on the suitcase full of bad vibes that Rodriguez likes to hold in his left hand while hitting?

Prediction:

Yankees make the right moves this next off season, certainly make the playoffs, and this time they get back to the W.S. and win it all, with A-Rod at the forefront.

Will he be wearing an eye patch when he does?

commitment to treating little things as big things.

yeah, that A-rod doesn't play the game right. Those things that he does like hitting hr's, getting on base, gold glove fielding...nah none of those things count.

A-Rod has nine years to go on a deal that could clear $300 million if he breaks the career home-run record, a milestone he'll need about five healthy seasons to own
I thought it was agreed upon by most sports news services, that Scott Boras got taken to the cleaners in this deal. Um. Apparently he got exactly what he was after.
