Frankly, Thomas had heard enough

Flipper the bird!....He’s an F-bomb, baby…yeah!

After Frank Thomas grounded into a double play in his final at-bat, the big, loud man hurled a few more choice words as Thomas trotted, head down, toward the dugout. Thomas looked up and glared.

“F—- you,” he said. Then he disappeared down the dugout steps as the heckler and his friends erupted in laughter. There were kids in the vicinity when Thomas addressed his tormentor. Thomas makes no apologies. The fan got too close and was too “nasty,” he said. “When they start screaming over the dugout, then you’re in my domain,” he said.

...“I’m doing everything I can possibly do right now. Sorry, I’m not something where you can just press the back, like a machine. Things aren’t going well, and Friday night, I got one strike in five at-bats. You can only do what you’re capable of doing out there.

“And for people to say what they were saying, after I hadn’t played in six days ... I’m not a child. I’m not a rude man, but when you engage me in that type of act, you’d better be ready for a response.”

The heckler is an a$$hole. Frank should be above responding to that $hit.

Thomas had never gotten the proper recognition for his great career IMO
   3. Hang down your head, Tom Foley Posted: June 19, 2007 at 10:02 PM (#2409847)
His message was that Thomas is too expensive, too old and too timorous in the batter's box.

Did the heckler say "timorous"?
   4. Darren Posted: June 19, 2007 at 10:22 PM (#2409868)
Yeah, timorous. And he likes to ply his seed in the other melon patch!

Thomas was heard yelling at the pitcher "Why not dig a trench, then the ball would be as low as you seem to wish it to be!"

(After a batter pops out) Warning track power... activate! Form of... a pop-up

I actually found this one pretty funny.

Hey, Mister! Can you spell "sh1t"?

Thanks, AJM. That was a delight.

"Thanks AJM?" What about me? I'm the one who quoted. I'm funny, can't you see that? It's me, not AJM.

"Our team is most likely better at playing baseball than yours is!"

Man, that be nasty!

Frank Thomas has heard a lot of insults in his day. I would like to think the individual must have really walked over the line to get a reaction.

This is the first time I have ever thought of Will Shatter and Frank Thomas, though I lament Frank Thomas's shattered foot from 2004 & 2005.

That's so bush league. I mean, what the hell was Kenny Williams doing in Toronto yesterday anyway?

Fixed.

Nah, the Williams line is funnier. Way funnier.......

Yes, I agree. That's what makes the wording of this article so weird. The writer goes to great lengths to describe the content of the heckler's taunts without giving any feel for how they were delivered. All such description comes from Thomas, and even then it's vague.

But Thomas's reply is verbatim, when it just as easily could have been sugarcoated in the same way (ie, "Thomas made his dismay with the heckler known in no uncertain terms." or some such).
