Fuentes Leaves Cardinals

Fuentes apparently has some personal issues back in California, and thus leaves the Cardinals with only two incompetent LOOGYs instead of three.

Is it correct to presume this lets the A's off the hook for paying him the rest of the season?

I'm assuming this means we've probably seen the end of Brian Fuentes in a major league uniform. Coors Field helped disguise the fact that at his peak, he was a pretty terrific closer, with a 158 ERA+ over the four seasons from 2005 to 2008. Identifying Fuentes as closer material was one of those things that made Bob Apodaca, once upon a time, one of the better pitching coaches in the game.

Probably; the Cardinals put Fuentes on the restricted list which means (among other things) that he is no longer being paid.
