Gabe Kapler dismissed as Phillies manager | MLB.com

I’m not a fan of the way the Phillies do things.

The Phillies have parted ways with manager Gabe Kapler, a source tells MLB.com’s Todd Zolecki. The team has not commented.

This is a team a lot of managers would like to manage. Lot of talent, lot of money.

Question #1 on the application: When you eat ice cream, do you actually, you know, swallow the ice cream?

question #1 in the interview: do you spit or swallow?

Rumor I heard was that the Phils & Showalter had shown "mutual interest."

Why did they wait a week and a half?

How the heck is Joe Maddon going to manage the Angels, Mets, AND the Phillies at the same time?!

@7: Methinks he was going to stay until the Nationals won last night.

What's the logic there?

Your division rival just took a huge jump in winning a postseason series. How can you stand pat?

(But I'm just a guy on the internet.)

Sounds like you're George Steinbrenner, actually.

But your other division rival just got humiliated and eliminated, so, net-net, you're even.

the owner doesn't trust the GM, but he also isn't ready to fire him.

Ladies and gentlemen, player/manager Bryce Harper!

How about Papelbon as manager. At least we know the Phillies will hustle

There has to be a word for how one feels when a team one likes does the right thing in the least-impressive way or for the worst reasons

Only in German, and it's 27 letters long.

That word is Rechtsschutzversicherungsgesellschaften. (Actually, that word means "insurance companies providing legal protection", but I'd still love to hear Vin Scully try to say it!)

two words: Mets fan

Granted it's one of those words that has a dual meaning: how one feels when a team one likes does the wrong thing again and again in the most obvious way or for petty reasons.

Do the Mets do good things for bad reasons?

I understand that Mickey Callaway is available.

Sure ... by definition, anything the Mets do is unimpressive or based on bad reasoning ... yet, every once in a while they still do something successful like give Jeff McNeil playing time (even if not as much as he might deserve) .... or, y'know, win more games than the Cubs.
