Gattis, Freeman lead Braves past Twins 5-4 in 10th

The Braves have a problem: They can’t hold late inning leads because all their non-Kimbrel relievers keep getting hurt.

The Braves have a solution to their problem: More Evan Gattis pinch hit home runs.

Evan Gattis just keeps coming through for the Atlanta Braves.

The rookie hit a two-out, pinch-hit homer in the ninth to send the game to extra innings and Freddie Freeman won it in the 10th, sending the Braves to their fifth straight win, 5-4 over the slumping Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night.

Of course it's impossible to keep it up, but he's 4-6 with 3 HRs (one game tying, two game winning) as a pinch hitter. Just adds to the story.

I will take my chances with Gattis vs a two pitch reliever's fastball every time.

Absolutely. And his 2nd and 3rd time through the order.

Sure could have used him in 1991.

I just can't read "Braves" "Twins" and "10th inning" and be happy about anything.

Remarkably, three guys have hit 3 pinch hit HRs in fewer at bats: Ted Williams was 3 for 5 with 3 HRs in 1957, Adam Dunn was 3 for 4 with 3 HRs in 2003, and Steve Henderson was 4 for 4 with 3 HRs and a triple in 1978.

That's pretty good company.

Jack Morris could get Evan Gattis out.

Jack Morris, right now, at age fifty-whatever, would be the Twins best starting pitcher.
