Giants purchase contract of 2B Uggla

So much to like from this article.  It’s like they are trolling me.

Dan Uggla needed a fresh start. The San Francisco Giants needed a healthy second baseman who could step in and produce.

Well, at least one of them will get what they needed.

Uggla will cost the Giants only $500,000. The Braves are responsible for the $18 million he’s guaranteed over the rest of this season and next season.

You know the sport is flush when a team will plunk down a cool half mil to sign a player after another team is willing to eat 18 mil to never see him again.

Bochy said he’s hoping Uggla can pull off a turnaround similar to the kind Pat Burrell and Jeff Francoeur did after signing with San Francisco in the middle of recent seasons.

Dare to dream!  Francoeur hit .194/.206/.226!  If only!

The rules require that the money go to someone. 500K is the minimum, and they can't leave the roster spot empty. Uggla's almost certainly hot garbage, but he's hot garbage that's healthy enough to take the field.

Pop quiz: which one has a greater chance of stopping balls hit toward the 2B position? Dan Uggla or a mental wall constructed of E.S.P. energy???

If this doesn't draw The Psychopath out of the RDB thread, nothing will.

PS: four games in the loss column now, Psychopath.

Taunting another poster in random threads in addition to your posting history and HE is the psychopath? Um, yeah.

Uggla will now hit 270/370/520 for the Giants down the stretch. It's what Sabean does.

Except for Francouer, and Orlando Cabrera. Also Jose Guillen, Jeff Keppinger, Bill Hall, Ryan Garko...ye gods, I've met hobos who've spent less time raiding dumpsters than Sabean.

As a Dodgers' fan, I wish to thank the Braves for letting the Giants have Uggla. In this series - 0-8 (although with a walk and a run scored) and 3 errors, leading to 2 unearned runs. No player on the Giants helped the Dodgers sweep more.

This is the best use the braves can get out of Uggla. He's slightly improving their wildcard chances now at least.
