Girardi won’t rule out a Severino bullpen appearance | New York Post

One bad game shouldn’t wipe out a great season.

I would have Severino starting game 2.

Giving him a low leverage relief situation make get him to shake away his nerves. Not necessarily a blow out, but just pitching the random 5th or 6th inning against the bottom of the lineup.

"Not ruling out" doesn't mean "planning on". Absent an emergency, I think Girardi keeps Severino on schedule to start Game 4. He gets his normal routine, with some extra rest. Not a bad idea for a kid who has never pitched this many innings in season.

Saw a report that rain is expected Friday. A rainout would mean losing the travel day, and messing up the Indians plan to bring back Kluber on normal rest for a possible Game 5.

I'm not overly impressed with Girardi. I could see him putting his top starter in the pen.

bring back Kluber on normal rest for a possible Game 5.

Forcing them to repeat the mistake of starting Trevor Bauer! :-)
