Does anyone here have experience with bad cellphone service in the Zion NP to Grand Canyon to Flagstaff area ?
A friend of mine is missing her daughter, no contact for almost 4 days now.
She texted before that every day like 5 times. Already out to police, just wondering if anyone knows something about that area.

   102. cardsfanboy Posted: September 13, 2018 at 08:18 PM (#5744028)
Tim McCarver is being honest... baseball is a selfish game and not a team game. "it would be refreshing for a guy to come out and say 'I was happy to have a four hit game, it will get me a bigger contract next year.'"

This was a great comment from McCarver.... McLaughlin is like "I'm hoping we have a great broadcast as a team" and McCarver agreed, that is true, but if either one of us messes up, you are hoping it's me. Let's admit the truth... one of his few moments of sanity and clarity this season.
   103. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: September 13, 2018 at 08:21 PM (#5744029)
Kershaw is so unbeatable with his 73 mph curveball.
   104. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: September 13, 2018 at 08:25 PM (#5744032)
The A'spire strikes back. 2-4 , more runs needed.
   105. Walks Clog Up the Bases Posted: September 13, 2018 at 08:27 PM (#5744035)
So who’s the defacto closer? A few weeks ago, Edwards would’ve seemed next in line, but that’s obviously out.
   106. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: September 13, 2018 at 08:27 PM (#5744036)
Well at least the Cards have Yellow-Arm Ozuna, and Flash Gordon-Bader.

   107. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: September 13, 2018 at 08:29 PM (#5744039)
Wtf Kershaw.
   108. cardsfanboy Posted: September 13, 2018 at 08:29 PM (#5744040)
5-1 lead with Kershaw pitching....yea... this game was over in the first inning.
   109. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: September 13, 2018 at 08:30 PM (#5744042)
Just do 23 pickoffs to first and hope you bust Kershaw's funny bone.
Other than that, yeah, end of game.
   110. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: September 13, 2018 at 08:36 PM (#5744048)
Ok, if the Cards win this one, I will eat Aaron Judge's jockstrap.
   111. cardsfanboy Posted: September 13, 2018 at 08:36 PM (#5744049)
There have been very few games this season that the Cardinals were not in it in the 7th inning or later, this is going to be one of those games.
   112. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: September 13, 2018 at 08:39 PM (#5744052)
I think the ump in Baltimore is just a fill-in from the World Series of Softball umpire pool.

God, that dude sucks !
   113. cardsfanboy Posted: September 13, 2018 at 08:40 PM (#5744054)
8-1 Dodgers in the fourth....
   114. Moses Taylor, aka Hambone Fakenameington Posted: September 13, 2018 at 08:46 PM (#5744061)
So who’s the defacto closer? A few weeks ago, Edwards would’ve seemed next in line, but that’s obviously out.

Wilson and Chavez take turns.
   115. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: September 13, 2018 at 08:56 PM (#5744068)
Is it too much to ask of the Blue Jays to win a game at Fanaway ?

Go Blue Jays !
   116. cardsfanboy Posted: September 13, 2018 at 08:59 PM (#5744070)
Cardinals relief pitcher just hit a homerun against Kershaw.... 2 out of the four hits the Cardinals have tonight have been by the pitchers.
   117. cardsfanboy Posted: September 13, 2018 at 08:59 PM (#5744071)
Now two of the five have been pitchers, and two by Carpenter, with a bunt single.
   118. cardsfanboy Posted: September 13, 2018 at 09:01 PM (#5744072)
Now Munoz has two out of the six Cardinal hits in this game so far....
   119. BDC Posted: September 13, 2018 at 09:03 PM (#5744074)
I'll post this again if we get a David Wright retirement thread: I like the symmetry of it. Wright's two closest comps are Hall of Fame NYC-team corner infielders:

Now a squirrel ran into the batter's box and had the seventh hit for the Cards.
   121. cardsfanboy Posted: September 13, 2018 at 09:04 PM (#5744076)
Ozuna drives in a run to make it 8-3....bases loaded and one out with Dejong up...

DeJong "in play, run."... so it's at least 8-4 now.
   122. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: September 13, 2018 at 09:07 PM (#5744078)
Holy ####, I can already taste that slightly salty, but very tasty Aaron Judge jockstrap.

Lucky me, for now. At F7.
   123. cardsfanboy Posted: September 13, 2018 at 09:08 PM (#5744080)
Cardinals aren't going to win this game, but the hope has been to get Kershaw out early enough that the Dodgers bullpen can be used a bit for this four game series.

   124. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: September 13, 2018 at 09:09 PM (#5744081)
They really call that party 'O'stoberfest !' ? JesO's Christ.
   125. salvomania Posted: September 13, 2018 at 09:11 PM (#5744082)
Jedd Gyorko flies out after the working the count to 3-0 against Kershaw, saving Shildt the embarrassment of having "defensive replacement" Francisco Pena up to bat with the bases loaded representing the tying run after Shildt removed Yadier Molina in the 5th inning with the Cardinals down by 7.
   126. cardsfanboy Posted: September 13, 2018 at 09:13 PM (#5744086)
Removing Molina was a no brainer though. Obviously things can change, but at the same point, he just returned to the lineup, he's probably not fully healthy... Although I would have preferred to show more faith in Carson Kelly as the replacement, but Kelly just hasn't hit at all in the majors, nor has he looked like he's capable of hitting major league pitching.
   127. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: September 13, 2018 at 09:17 PM (#5744088)
And Laureano singles. *This is, how good innings start...

Buck Slowolder brings in the Lefty !
   129. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: September 13, 2018 at 09:21 PM (#5744090)
8-6 would be exciting @Cards @Kershaw @AaronsBalls
   130. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: September 13, 2018 at 09:24 PM (#5744092)
That Baltimore Softball Ump should be sacked by 17 Llamas ! IMHO
   131. cardsfanboy Posted: September 13, 2018 at 09:27 PM (#5744093)
two men on, and the NL leading hr hitter(and double hitter) is up to bat, sure it's Kershaw vs a leftie so it's going to be tough,..... damnit...in play out before I finish typing this.
   132. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: September 13, 2018 at 09:27 PM (#5744094)
Olson !

8-7 would be cool, too.
   135. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: September 13, 2018 at 09:29 PM (#5744097)
4:3 , Olson walked.

Enter : Piscotty, bases loaded.
Any predictions ?! :)

if Maddon batted La Stella in the obvious spot, then the story is not about Maddon. it's not any more complicated than that.

Joe needs a hug, and he needs it bad.

Not sure how this community thinks on the matter, but I like the AL NL differences.
Keep it that way. Sameness is stoppage and decay.

Man, the Red Sox are just lucking their way into wins these days. Got the winner on a WP yesterday and now get the go ahead run in on an error.

It's been quite the season thus far....
   147. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: September 13, 2018 at 09:55 PM (#5744111)
If that Baltimore UMP finally has his shirts and skirts together, I won't say another word.
Do this, A's !

Mostly I tire of your schtick, but this I do agree with. This move towards a homogeneous league is dull.

(what the hell is your Schtick? posting a game thread with all cap for the first post? it's a routine, not a schtick, and I'm not sure how people can be tired of a guy just having fun, while providing a service)

6 outs to go , until I eat Aaron Judge's balls. Feels like Death Row right now !

As far as

I think the community around here is slightly more in favor of the dh(it has to do with the fact that this community is slightly more biased to being AL fans, even if many of them are old) but that they are generally fine with the split attitudes....to the point that a few people on here argue that even though it's been considered "inevitable" that the NL will join the Al as a DH league, the fact is that it's been 40 years and there really hasn't been any movement to making it happen.

Agree, it also helps that he's an active poster in omnichatter. But he's clearly enjoying the game even in his own misery from time to time.
   158. Tom Nawrocki Posted: September 13, 2018 at 10:13 PM (#5744124)
Kyle Freeland helped his own cause with a double and a single today. Who wouldn't want that?

He cracks me up time and time again, the same way that Gamingboy used to with his anti-Yankees rants.** And if Jose Altuve had an ounce of sense, he'd copyright that "Tiny Terror Tot" handle that AT-AT gave him. I can't think of a better nickname in baseball today.

** And whatever happened to Gamingboy?

Old AL fan who likes the DH but if the NL wants to keep away from it, so what? The NL barely registers on any real baseball fan's radar.

Everyone knows the A's only lose a game every time a major hurricane makes landfall in the United States.

lol.
   163. cardsfanboy Posted: September 13, 2018 at 10:26 PM (#5744129)
9-5 Dodgers going into the bottom of the ninth... as of right now, I qualify this game as a game in which the Cardinals didn't have a chance....

But if for some reason, the tying run comes to the plate, that would change the story...as of right now though, this is one of the games in which the Cardinals weren't competitive (even though it's been a fairly tight game in some respects, considering the score)

   164. cardsfanboy Posted: September 13, 2018 at 10:31 PM (#5744131)
A McCarver broadcast, wouldn't be a McCarver broadcast without a mention of Jeter/Gibson.... so this broadcast qualifies as a McCarver broadcast now, as he predicted a Jeter/Rivera hof locks.
   165. cardsfanboy Posted: September 13, 2018 at 10:33 PM (#5744132)
Jansen throws four balls to Martinez(only three were called balls though) and on the fifth pitch he finally throws one in the strike zone that was promptly hit into a single...

first and second no outs for the Cardinals.
   166. cardsfanboy Posted: September 13, 2018 at 10:34 PM (#5744133)
How do the Dodgers not have someone warming up right now???
   167. cardsfanboy Posted: September 13, 2018 at 10:36 PM (#5744134)
28 hits so far in this game....
   168. cardsfanboy Posted: September 13, 2018 at 10:38 PM (#5744135)
cortisone is wearing off for Ozuna, shoot him again.
   169. cardsfanboy Posted: September 13, 2018 at 10:40 PM (#5744136)
tying run at bat....
   170. cardsfanboy Posted: September 13, 2018 at 10:41 PM (#5744137)
and the pitcher who can't find the strike zone is given a gift strike call on the first pitch to Gyorko.
   171. cardsfanboy Posted: September 13, 2018 at 10:43 PM (#5744138)
9-7....two outs, tying run up to bat..... again.... man on first Matt Adams up to bat.
   172. cardsfanboy Posted: September 13, 2018 at 10:44 PM (#5744139)
Matt Adams is 4 for 6 in his career against Jansen....in play out... ugh...
   173. cardsfanboy Posted: September 13, 2018 at 10:45 PM (#5744140)
For a game in which the Cardinals were beat like red headed step children, they still managed to make it an interesting game...
