Gleeman: Miss Iowa didn’t like being compared to Miguel Batista

Finally…a chance to use the Other Bert Parks Corrector (OBPC)!

Predictably, after Miguel Batista joked that his subbing for an injured Stephen Strasburg was like fans showing up to see Miss Universe only to get Miss Iowa instead, the actual Miss Iowa has responded.

Her name is Katherine Connors, she looks just a tad better in a two-piece than Batista, and she issued the following statement:

I know I can throw a pitch or two! The question is, can Miguel Batista walk the runway in a swimsuit?

Batista naturally backtracked from his comments a bit, framing them more as a compliment than an insult, and said Connors is “gorgeous.” He also sent her some flowers to smooth things over.

And just for the record: I’m in favor of more baseball players getting into public feuds with beauty pageant contestants, if only for the excuse to post pictures of women who look like Connors instead of dudes who look like Batista.

Miss Iowa is pretty cute, and on a good day probably very hot. She's still no Miss Universe.

To me, Miss Iowa looks really hot in this (work friendly) picture.

When it comes to gracious apologies, I personally believe that U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some people out there in our nation don’t have maps, and, uh, I believe that our education like such as in South Africa and, uh, the Iraq everywhere like, such as and I believe that they should, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., er, should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future for our children.

I wouldn't put it past him, Batista is a pretty multi-talented guy isn't he?
I seem to recall him writing poetry, crime novels, or Proust criticism...something like that

Once again the tag of "fantasy baseball" amuses.

Think it's both of the first two, actually.

He's an interesting and complicated man.

How about this?

I've done beauty pageants as a contestant for 15 years. By any standard I'm one of a small number of people to do it successfully outside the mainstream, I've played most of the roles Miss Iowa can play and holy god I'm sick of listening to you act as if you've had 1% of the success the people you criticize have had. How about you grant that I might know what I'm talking about, given that walking down the runway in a swimsuit has been my career, without me having to make a pageant case to someone with no standing to ask for one?

The Washington Nationals aren't a business in any real sense of the word, it's the Montreal Expos ported to DC and stripped of its spark. That you would make these comparisons shows just how little you understand of beauty pageants, how little you've ever understood.

Stick to being a swing man, Miguel. Stick to your sycophant-laden stadia and your above-it-all mien. Stop jumping in here and cheap-shotting a business that you've never comprehended on your best day.

Thank you! I love you all! *waves*

He also plays soprano sax and considers Kenny G one of his heroes. He once said something along the lines of 'I've gotten to meet Sandy Koufax, Kenny G and someday I'll meet God' Kenny G is more like the Pete Schourek of musicians.

#### that ######' Batista who comes out here and says he’s Miss Iowa and is supposed to be behind you rippin' every ######' thing you do. I'll tell you one ######' thing, I hope I win Miss America, just to stuff it up his ass every ######' day, because if he's a real Miss Iowa fan, he can kiss my ######' ass right downtown and PRINT IT.

He’s really, really behind you around here... my ######' ass. What the #### am I supposed to do, go out there and walk the runway in a swimsuit and get destroyed every day and be quiet about it? For the ######' nickel-dime pitchers. That ############ don't even work. That's why he’s a swingman. He oughta go out and get a ######' job and find out what it's like to go out and earn a ######' living.

Eighty-five percent of the ######' world is working. The other fifteen percent are Miguel Batista. Nats Stadium is a ######' playground for the cocksuckers. Rip them #############. Rip them ######' cocksuckers like ####### Batista. I’m bustin my ######' ass, and that ######' guy compares me to Miss Universe. And that's Batista? Everybody associated with the Miss Iowa Pageant have been winners their whole ######' life. Everybody. And the credit is not given in that respect.

In my day we didn't just walk the runway, we had to run up and down it,... for miles. Before the pageant all of had to get on our hands and knees and sand and polish the runway. So I don't want to hear about "Oh, my feet!" walking down some pre-polished runway.
   17. Tripon Posted: July 29, 2010 at 05:32 PM (#3602755)
Miguel Batista went on to say that he would #### the #### out of Miss Iowa if he had a couple of beers in him.
   18. Sweatpants Posted: July 29, 2010 at 05:42 PM (#3602765)
Carpenter: Well, certainly this show is going to go down in history, Miguel. Terry Elliott of Washington, D.C. wants to know why you don't use Katherine Connors as a positive comparison all the time.

Batista: Well, Katherine Connors is lucky she's in ######' beauty pageants, for Chrissake. She was beaten by Miss Ohio; she was beaten by ######', ####### Miss Georgia. We saw that Katherine Connors could sit on her ######' ass for eight contestants and enjoy watching a beauty pageant just like any other fan and has the ability to get up there and break one open as the ######' ninth, so if this ##########'d mind his own business and let me manage the ######' analogies we'd be a lot better off.

Carpenter: Well, certainly you've made your opinions known on the fans, especially about analogies, Miguel, but let's get to something else. Katherine Connors from Bettendorf wants to know the best time to enter a beauty pageant.

Batista: Katherine Connors oughta be worried about where the #### her next lay's comin' from rather than where her next ####### beauty pageant is comin' from. If she'd get her ass out of the ######' pageants at night and go hustling around the ####### streets, she might get a prick stuck in her once in a while. I don't understand where these questions are comin' from, Bob. That's about it for Swingman's Corner; go #### yourself, and the #### with your show coming up next on the Washington National Baseball ####### Network.

Frankly, I'd rather have Miguel Batista read Proust to me while wearing a swimsuit (though definitely not Miss Iowa's swimsuit) than hear anything Miss Iowa has to say. In a hot tub would be nice, but I'm not picky.

It continues: Miss Iowa, Katherine Connors, will throw out the first pitch at Nationals Park tomorrow. Also, Batista has been invited to be a judge for the Miss Iowa Pageant in October.

I'd heard that Captain Morgan will throwing out the first pitch on Friday. Maybe the Captain will be moved to Saturday. More likely, both Captain Morgan and Miss Iowa will throw out the first pitch on Friday. More interesting would be if she threw out the first pitch AS Captain Morgan.

We haven't heard yet from the other Miss Iowa. The eventual Miss America title went to a former member of the Nat Pack.

Co-Primeys for 12 an 18, obviously.

Might as well go for the trifecta:

"What do think of Miss Iowa's performance?"
"What the #### do you mean what do I think of Miss Iowa's performance? She won three beauty pageants against us! That's a pretty tough question to ask me, isn't it...what is my opinion of her performance? I'm pissed off to lose the ####### pageant, and you ask me what is my opinion of her performance...?"

I hope Batista does #### the #### out of her. Well, actually that Kenny G #### is kind of unforgivable. It would be a cool story but he's obviously a loser, so #### it.

Miss Iowa Runner Up:

Miss Iowa is who I thought she was. She is who I thought she was. I walked down the runway against her in Miss Teen USA— who the hell takes Miss Teen USA like it's bullshvt? Bullshvt! I walked down the runway against them in Miss Teen USA— everybody walked the runway — Katherine Connors is who I thought she was! That's why I took the damn rtage. Now if you want to crown her, then crown her ass! But she is who I thought she was! And I let her off the hook!
