With that in mind, many cardboard enthusiasts emulate the “faith of a child”, patiently awaiting the appearance of a miraculous artifact that absolutely shatters the hobby world, and this SGC 40/3 W600 Cy Young easily applies as such a specimen. Forget the fact that PSA has currently encapsulated NO such copies and SGC’s census report lists only 5 other examples with a mere two graded higher. Certainly, that alone would justify this offering as an incredible collectible, but this new hobby find just happens to carry the signature of the immortal Cy Young in what quite possibly could be one of his earliest known autographs! Furthermore, the signature applied to this ultra rare cabinet card in black fountain pen reads “D.T. Young”!!! That is correct folks, a “D.T. Young” autograph providing the initials of Young’s birth name “Denton True Young”.
...Numerous times, enthusiasts and auction houses will boast that their rare collectibles are distinct, yet as time evolves similar examples begin to surface. Fortunately, the scarcity of this uniquely signed D.T. Young W600 cabinet card is undeniable and is, indeed, the SOLE example existing on the planet. Via the final bid, one fortunate collector will be the exclusive owner of this unequivocal “one of a kind” cardboard specimen that is one of Cy Young’s earliest recorded signatures, and will forever be regarded as one of our National Pastime’s most remarkable esoteric artifacts!
