Isn't he a good player this year?

13 HRs in 42 games, .378 OBP, .585 SLG.

I can't wait until he really blossoms.

I think it's a sure sign of a superstar when a hitter can move up the ladder rapidly despite displaying weaknesses. Over the next year or two he's going to eliminate some of those mistakes by competing against the best pitchers in the world.

I echo here what Bill James wrote about Frank Thomas after his rookie year: only an injury or a swelled head can prevent him from being one of the half dozen best hitters in baseball over the next decade.

Now if only the Reds could come up with some pitchers.
