1. Austin Posted: August 31, 2011 at 03:42 PM (#3913348)Oh, it's not for "Which broadcasters would you like to see fight to the death?"
Nevermind.
I've never heard Mike Krukow do a game but I liked him as a player so I'm voting for him.
That's it, period. The next person after that who's most deserving from this list is probably Skip Caray.
Taking a larger view, it's silly to include play by play broadcasters and analysts on the same ballot; it's not the same job.
Agreed.
Krukow is fantastic. As is Duane Kuiper and pretty much everyone else who works for the Giants -- both TV and radio.
And it's not impossible that at least one of them might make it, given the size of their audiences. You know that the overwhelming majority of votes are going to be for the hometown favorites, and the ones with the greatest number of listeners / viewers are going to be at a big advantage, since most voters aren't going to be familiar with anyone outside the national crews and their own particular local pair. Quality isn't going to have a damn thing to do with it.
This isn't as bad as it sounds, btw. FTFA: "Fans can cast votes at the Hall of Fame's Facebook page to determine three of the 10 finalists for the award with voting running from Sept. 1 through Sept. 30. Votes can be cast once per day, with results announced on Oct. 5, with the eventual honoree being revealed on Dec. 6, during baseball's winter meetings."
Kay and Harrelson ain't gonna be making the HoF this way.
Ashburn
Kiner
I haven't lived many places, so basically if they aren't from PA, the states nearby or national - it's unlikely I've heard them much.
