I wouldn't be surprised if there were a number of facetious ballots with Chip Caray, Hawk Harrelson, Thom Brennaman, Michael Kay, John Sterling, Joe Buck, Tim McCarver, and Joe Morgan.

Wow. The opportunity to vote for Al Hrabosky AND Thom Brennaman?

Oh, it's not for "Which broadcasters would you like to see fight to the death?"

Nevermind.

Don't know how he'll do in the instant competition, but Rick Rizzs wins the Most Inexplicably Consecutive Consonants in a Non-Welshman's Name Award, hands down.

This is silly the only person I have heard enough to make a reasoned vote is Ken Harrelson-YUCK.
I've never heard Mike Krukow do a game but I liked him as a player so I'm voting for him.

Skip Carey, Kell, Enberg, Cohen, Kuiper, Krukow, Cheek, EJ Sr., Michaels, Stone would be my first cut line.

Bill King was that good. I hope this is the year for him.
   7. Dr. Vaux Posted: August 31, 2011 at 04:20 PM (#3913399)
BILL KING.

That's it, period. The next person after that who's most deserving from this list is probably Skip Caray.

Taking a larger view, it's silly to include play by play broadcasters and analysts on the same ballot; it's not the same job.

Carl Yastrzemski laughs.

Cohen will get in someday, but that day shouldn't be now.

To paraphrase Bill James, if Bob Carpenter is a hall of famer then I'm a lugnut.

My vote would be Cheek, and a write-in nomination for Dan Shulman.

Watch Ron Santo get in as a broadcaster (where he's terrible) before he does as a player (where he deserves it).

Agreed.

Krukow is fantastic. As is Duane Kuiper and pretty much everyone else who works for the Giants -- both TV and radio.

This is such a monumentally stupid idea that I hope that Sterling, McCarver and Harrelson win.

And it's not impossible that at least one of them might make it, given the size of their audiences. You know that the overwhelming majority of votes are going to be for the hometown favorites, and the ones with the greatest number of listeners / viewers are going to be at a big advantage, since most voters aren't going to be familiar with anyone outside the national crews and their own particular local pair. Quality isn't going to have a damn thing to do with it.

Phil Rizzuto never got this award? ah, whatever; "Paradise By the Dashboard Light" plays forever.

I wouldn't mind seeing Ralph Kiner go in. He was, and still is, a hell of a broadcaster. Of course, I grew up listening to him, so I'm biased.

This isn't as bad as it sounds, btw. FTFA: "Fans can cast votes at the Hall of Fame's Facebook page to determine three of the 10 finalists for the award with voting running from Sept. 1 through Sept. 30. Votes can be cast once per day, with results announced on Oct. 5, with the eventual honoree being revealed on Dec. 6, during baseball's winter meetings."

Kay and Harrelson ain't gonna be making the HoF this way.

Guys I've heard that I think are fine options:

Ashburn
Kiner

I haven't lived many places, so basically if they aren't from PA, the states nearby or national - it's unlikely I've heard them much.
