Hardball Talk: Braves sign Ben Sheets to minor league contract

From FOX Sports.com’s Ken Rosenthal comes word that the Braves have agreed to a minor league contract with veteran right-hander Ben Sheets.

Sheets hasn’t appeared in a major league game since July 9, 2010, when he was a member of the A’s. And he underwent Tommy John reconstructive elbow surgery a little under two years ago… Sheets owns a 3.79 career ERA and 1.22 career WHIP.

Everything’s broken…

Ben Sheets doesn't exactly speak English, either. I wonder if he still speaks fluent Yellow Hammer, though.

One studio almost in the past 8 years will do that.

If you're talking about Tom Waits the number is three including one triple album.

Yep. It wasn't until I saw the headline that I wondered whatever happened to that guy. I don't think I knew it had been 2 years since he appeared in the majors, and I definitely didn't remember that he played with the A's.

He disappeared like Brandon Webb did - 3.5 seasons since his last appearance, and I see he only threw 4 games in the minors in that time. Is he completely retired?

Webb had a career-ending injury.
