Hardball Talk: MiLB.com launches free “Triple-A” app

Using an interface modeled after the MLB At Bat 2011 app, minorleaguebaseball.com is now offering the free Milb.com Triple-A app, providing scoreboard and pitch-tracker information for every Triple-A game over the rest of the season.

The app also features a customizable home screen that can be set up with one’s favorite affiliate, archived box scores from the 2011 season, roster information and schedules.

It's an iPhone app, which makes it slightly less awesome then the MLB at bat iPad app, but still. Sweet. I'll be smoking the milb.com pipe the rest of the season.

The first game I checked was yesterday's Rochester vs. Columbus tilt. Kipnis, Carrera, Duncan and Chisenhall made the box score. I thought that was impressive considering they all played in Cleveland last night, until I realized they finished a suspended game from June...

Pretty sweet. The gameday interface on the iPhone only gives pitch by pitch detail for the current inning, and with no day AAA games, I'll have to check it out tonight.

I wonder if this "Gameday for the MiLB.com Triple-A app delivers pitch details, up-to-the-moment scoring, play-by-play summaries and more"
means just ball/strike calls, or public pitch f/x data for the minors?

I guess minorleaguebaseball.com was inspired to launch this app mid-season by Mr. Obama's recent declaration that "we will always be a AAA country."

Free beta testers. Next spring the app will be version 2.0, with more features, and a 7.99 price tag.
