Jeter gave Konerko a gift basket?

It was Jeter. He re-gifted.

Flush Flaherty: "Paul Konerko's farewell tour may be flying under the radar compared to Derek Jeter's." Ya think?

I think what the common fan misses is some of these guys would rather retire without much of the fanfare or mini-ceremony in every last stadium they would visit as a player - maybe a guy like Paul Konerko can do that and slink quietly away, but Jeter can't because of his perceived stature among fans.

I think it's terribly selfish of Paul Konerko to steal some of Jeter's thunder by retiring in the same year.

I also give a wag of the finger to Richard Attenborough for selfishly passing away during Jeter's last few weeks of play.
