He's got seven weeks to get himself ready to play. Would be a real shame if he can't given how good the Nats have looked.

I'd care a lot more if he were on my fantasy team, but even so ... Has there been any sort of outcry about how, shall we say, dubious it was to begin with for the team to be playing after a three-hour rain delay? Whether that had any impact whatsoever on his misstep & resulting injury, I have no idea, but at the very least it couldn't have helped.

Normally, I'd agree but the Friday night game was washed away and the opponent was the Giants, not a division rival. Once the downpour ended, the game had to be played.

The first ~ 75 minutes of that rain delay was waiting for the rain to come, which appears to have become something close to MLB SOP these days. Might have had 3+ dry innings, before they had to stop, but preventing teams from "wasting" their starters, even if game is on hold for hours seems like the higher priority these days. I think I'd revisit that, at least when the rain is an hour away. FWIW, MLB, rather than the Nationals, made the call last night since it was the Giants last trip to DC. There really weren't any good options other than finding a way to play, but I would have started at 7:00 PM.

There would have been no material impact if the Giants (30+ games out of their division) and Nationals (13+ games up in their division) finished with 161 games played.
