1. WillYoung Posted: May 25, 2009 at 04:24 AM (#3192025)ESPN showed some thing about Bob Feller going into the military. Part of some Memorial Day tribute. And then Phillips went on a big thing about how today's players suck because the old timers fought wars, but they take steroids, and what happened to the game?
And he also got into an argument with Hershiser about whether Kubel wearing a sweater meant he was definitely unavailable for the game. Hershiser, the guy who played the game at the major league level, called him out for being a dope for saying he definitely wasn't available because of the sweater. He explained that sometimes people are just cold and prefer a sweater. Phillips couldn't quite comprehend that.
Those are the two things I picked up when my attempts to not listen to what was being said failed.
Yeah, this post made me laugh very hard, for, although I didn’t watch the game, I could just picture Phillips initiating an argument in this vein.
I don't quite get it. Mauer is obviously a great hitter; why isn't it likely that he's getting stronger as he gets older, and while he's not changing his approach at the plate, the fact that the ball is going farther isn't an accident.
It sounds like someone just admitted to taking growth hormones!

Exactly. Anyone can pull the ball. Not as many hitters can consistently hit opposite field homeruns. Mauer is just a fantastic hitter.
Lefty. Great hitter. Abbreviated season.
Let's see if he can surpass Piazza's 1997 season. That was a heckuva year by Mike
