While we're at it, other Astros' decisions based on spring training:

Third baseman Chris Johnson, who last year played in Class AAA Round Rock and has enjoyed a solid spring, has made the club, Mills said.

Johnson led the team in HRs (6) during the spring. He may get some playing time while Berkman is out to start the season.

Also: Lindstrom has been named closer after posting a 0.0 ERA during the spring. Towles beat out Jason Castro for catching position, although both hit well during the spring.

Based on the Astros' recent history: white.

In other DL news: Jed Lowrie (Bos Mononucleosis)

I thought he had a cow zoonosis the first time I read that.

Does the NL Central have the best collection of talent at one position in baseball? They have arguably 5 of the best 7 or 8 1st basemen in baseball (Pujols, Fielder, Berkman, Votto, Lee). The AL East has good 3rd basemen but it's crazy how good the 1st basemen in the NL Central are. The Pirates are the only team without a great player in the spot.

The NL East is pretty good at SS with Ramirez, Reyes, Rollins & Escobar.
For a while they were loaded at 3B until Cabrera was traded to Detroit, with a group of Cabrera, Wright, Jones & Zimmerman.

2B in the AL East - Cano, Pedroia, Zobrist, Roberts, Hill - has to enter the conversation, right?

the only playing time chris johnson is likely to get is in the batting cage. as long as Proven Veterans jeff keppinger and geeoff blom and pedro feliz are uninjured, he gonna grab that there bench

cory sullivan made the roster instead of either maysonet or jason bourgeois

darin erstad, jr minus the football kicking thingy which is a very important thing to have done to play baseball

This would hurt most teams, but the Astros have a lot of depth all around the diamond...
