How the Mets can save Amed Rosario

Although he’s eating up service time on the Mets, sending him down won’t necessarily fix his problems. Watching him this season, he’s shown glimpses of figuring it out. As long as it’s not a confidence problem, and it doesn’t appear that it is, let him keep working against the best competition in the world and see how it plays out. He’s proven he can handle the minors. Remember, player development is not linear. Sometimes a team just needs to be patient.

I didn't realize how mediocre he's been with the glove. I don't disagree with the idea of sending him down for the last 3 weeks of the season--every time he flashes getting it together, he regresses pretty badly. The Mets last season were insisting on seeing him raise his BB rate before calling him up--and then abandoned that plan in a fit of desperation (as the article points out). That said, I don't necessarily see why they can't coach him in the majors.

Alonso's looking like everything Dom Smith is not--27 HR so far this year.

Only a handful of ABs so far, but McNeil's swinging it well enough to make a case for a gig next year. Probably stretched at 2B though.
