10:28 PM - 18 Aug 2018
Price was asked by reporter why he's been on a roll in last six starts: "I made adjustments." What kind of adjustments? "I'm not gonna tell you. You can go back and watch film. I'm not gonna do your job for you. I'm sorry. You don't do mine, so I won't do yours."

Christopher Smith @SmittyOnMLB
18:24 - 20 Aug 2018
Update: WBZ's Jonny Miller was the reporter, as most know by now. Miller did his research, then went up to Price in the clubhouse today and told him what he was doing different (placement on rubber, pitch usage, locations). Price said he was right.

BURN!
   2. What did Billy Ripken have against ElRoy Face? Posted: August 20, 2018 at 07:09 PM (#5730439)
WHO WILL ASK HOW THE ANGELS WILL LOSE TODAY TODAY?

EDIT: Just because the Angels are taking the day off doesn't mean that you shouldn't remain vigilant, Hombre.

Price is one of those guys who goes out of his way to be a dick to the media, isn't he?

HOW WILL THE ANGELS SPEND THEIR DAY OFF TODAY?!
   5. Bote Man the walk-off king Posted: August 20, 2018 at 07:19 PM (#5730444)
Archer was making short work of the Braves' top of the lineup until Freeman spanked a down-and-in pitch into the RF corner for a double. Then Markakis hit a 1-2 pitch to RF to score Freeman. Pirates radio saying how Archer has trouble nailing down hitters when he's in a pitcher's count, is that a problem for him?

Also, I hope his lady is named Lana.

Mets up 1:0 on the Giants already, first inning. Time to let the Giants go into the offseason. Or any differing thoughts ?
Any words of hope, for a dying, drowning, cursing, Athletics worshipping, barely still a Giants' fan dude ?!

No religious bullcrap please, only soothing words of love.

Sometimes, but in this case I'm going to give him a pass.

The way I see it, it's pretty lazy for a reporter to just ask, "hey your results are better, what's different?"

I think a good reporter would have had a quick look at things first, then ask something along the lines of, "hey, I notice your setting up a little different on the rubber and your pitch sequencing has changed, do you think this has helped you be more effective the last 6 outings?"

Or something along those lines. I would think a player would appreciate the fact that the person asking the question has some idea of what they are talking about.
The reason why old timey news sources are largely defunct is most of them were lazy. Do your work, be better informed and yeah, be better at your job.

Sox up 3-0 in the 3rd...

If the Injuns can't beat the RedSucks...who can ? Who will ever again be able to ? Oh Lord, please... send down a team of Angels ...no wait... don't ! We'll just take it like real men.

Indians will win it, I am almost certain. Like when I am certain that the St. Louis Cards will win and such.

The Rays are using an “opener” against the Royals. Hunter Wood started and faced 7 batters, before giving way to Ryan Yarborough.

I mean why. They’re the Royals. You don’t need to play matchups, no one can hit, their cleanup batter tonight is Lucas Duda and the DH Ryan O’Hearn.

How will the Giants screw up 2nd and 3rd, no outs, in the 5th ?!
   11. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 20, 2018 at 08:32 PM (#5730474)
They’re the Royals.

Nuff said.

Cervelli nailed the sh|t out of Acuña sliding into 3B to end the inning. Archer is out of the game in favor of Steven Brault of the Hirst-Brault Expressway fortune.

Brault, relief pitcher, takes the base on balls from Bryse Wilson, who clearly does not respect the A.

Bill James Online @billjamesonline
Would never speak ill of another front office, but the media could give you the impression that the Nationals are not a smoothly functioning machine.

You know, Bill might be on to something here.

Tuned in just in time to see Greg Allen take one deep.

Who's Greg Allen?!
   15. AT-AT at bat@AT&T Posted: August 20, 2018 at 09:13 PM (#5730492)
HOW WILL THE ALLEN HOMER TODAY ?
   16. the Hugh Jorgan returns Posted: August 20, 2018 at 09:22 PM (#5730495)
boo, the real Rick Porcello has arrived. Should've pulled him after 6 and the tie game. Left him in too long and gave up the 2 run dinger in the 7th to noted slugger Greg Allen; he of the .309SLG

It was right after he took a line drive off his chest, which quite obviously affected him. That’s the real reason Cora should have removed him, even though Porcello insisted on toughing it out.

Didn't know any of that. At work, in sydney, following on the gameday. But Rick is usually your 6 2/3 give up 3 runs guy. And that's what he is and that's ok. Serving up a homer to Allen is not good.

i see that the astros bullpen is stinking it up once again and that the hitters are not hitting

A tie game in Seattle, a 1-run game in Los Angeles. It's a great night for Best Coast baseball, and no Angel game to depress me.

Robbie Cano just won back a lot of angry fans with that one swing.

And now Muncy singles off a 103-MPH fastball to score the tying run against the Cards for the Dodgers.

The smoke from the wildfires is noticeable in the Astros @ Mariners broadcast. Somewhat hazy on the wide outfield shots. Announcers said they didn't close the dome because one end is open and there was a concern that smoke would still get in and be trapped under the dome, making things worse. I hope poor BDC doesn't get stuck with one of those cheapie-domes that doesn't offer full protection against the elements. Maybe he should call the architect?

Kenley Jansen's second pitch off the DL gets deposited into the left-centerfield seats. Cardinals take the lead in the 9th.

It's awful - the worst I've ever seen it here. The air quality is listed as "very unhealthy" in parts of the Seattle area. I can't imagine what it must be like to try to play a ball game under those conditions.
