Creepy.

Just saw this, and it amused me. It's from a Fangraphs chat earlier this week.

#1 - Thanks for sharing that. He's the best. And by the best, I mean the worst.

Edit: Well, the deal in the commercial is Kinsler for Lincecum then sweetened to Kinsler and Prince for Lincecum. So the foreshadowing is a bit off.

To clarify, I think that in the commercial, Real Ian Kinsler offers Real Prince Fielder Imaginary Ian Kinsler and Imaginary Prince Fielder for Imaginary Tim Lincecum. No Fielder-Kinsler trade is proposed.

EDIT: Coke to 2.

#2:

I don't think Cameron was as wrong as you're proposing. Detroit had to pitch in cash to offset the Fielder contract.

The delta between cash and the Cy Young winner is pretty large. And then he said Texas wouldn't even consider it. He was pretty wrong.

Seriously.

Not necessarily. The question of whether to take [Fielder + Fielder's contract + 30M] or [Fielder + Fielder's contract + Scherzer] is the same as just [30M] or [Scherzer]. If someone asked you if you'd rather have Max Scherzer or $30M, you'd have to think about it. That's not a huge difference, in my mind, especially considering you'd have to pay Scherzer either $14M in arb money or give him an albatross extension once you made the trade. You can do a lot of things with $30M.

Like sign Jason Vargas.

Come on, you could sign at least three Jason Vargases for $30M!

"The delta between cash and the Cy Young winner is pretty large. And then he said Texas wouldn't even consider it. He was pretty wrong."

B.S. Scherzer has a lot more value to DET than a random $30M. But, you've likely got a Cameron axe to grind so grind on Bob. DET's likely jettisoning a contract they don't want so they can extend Scherzer.

If you listen to this commercial closely....

Kinsler proposes trading Lincecum to Fielder for Kinsler: "Hey Prince about trading me for him."

Fielder says maybe...

Then Kinsler says proposes trading Kinsler and Fielder for Lincecum: "How about us for him."

Fielder: "I get us and you get him."

So Kinsler first proposes trading Lincecum... and then proposes getting him back in a deal. He proposes Fielder trading Kinsler and then trading for him."

I think.

Exactly. Cameron asserted that the Rangers wouldn't even consider a deal that would be considerably better for them than the one they took. He's about as wrong as you can get.
