IF CLEAN SHEET CO. DESIGNED CAPS FOR THE WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC

These are pretty sweet.

Australia’s baseball identity is, on balance, pretty decent. But it’s got some issues. The most pressing: from the squad’s colors to the letter ‘A’, the current visual package looks way too much like how a video game who couldn’t secure MLB rights might depict the Oakland A’s. This is fixable. The Australian national identity is tied up with that of the kangaroo. This version of the ’roo is inspired by the one used by the Australian air force. Depicted in classic Aussie green and gold, there’s no way this cap is confused for any other team – or nation.

Netherlands, Cuba, Canada and Italy for me. Unfortunately, the U.S. is one of the worst designs for me.

I voted Netherlands, Australia, Canada and PR. I like a lot of the ones in the first and last groups and think the middle 2 groups are less cool.

Mexico in a landslide imo.

Is it just me, or does South Korea's look like a Pepsi hat?

Each Australian national team has a different name, usually something Australian. The Kangaroos are the national rugby league team. By the time baseball came along, all the good names were long gone and they somehow went with Southern Thunder.

AG#1F - pro tip on posting images, video, etc... Include WIDTH=100% within the brackets. That will resize the picture with the window and prevent page width from blowing up. (This pic was fine on desktop but... substantial on mobile.)

I don't recall if it was you or someone else, but a few days ago I made a similar change to a video posted atop a different thread.

Mexico in a landslide imo.

I would have preferred an actual letter X, but keeping the Aztec temple in the negative space at the bottom. But that's a minor quibble.

Israel and Australia are the only ones I voted for. I might have picked the Canadian cap, but the colors were weird.

All the best hats were in the top two groups. The US hat is both dull looking and stupid. Much better just to have gone with our flag.

Taipei, Australia, Canada, Mexico.

Would have voted Israel over Taipei except for the white front panel -- solid blue and that's a winner.

Mexico is fine but not better than the one they actually wear.

Australia is a landslide winner for best overall IMO.

Israel, Taipei, Japan, and the DR are terrific. Most of the rest are very good. US and Venezuela seem cluttered.

Australia's looks like John Deere Down Under.

Fixed, thanks.

I'd already put it at 100% before my comment. Looks like you moved it to 30%. Fine either way.

Regardless of personal taste, these hats are clearly better, as a group, than the ones worn on the field in the WBC.

The New Zealand baseball team is called the Diamondblacks.

I agree with #12. On balance these caps are pretty awesome.

Riffing off the rugby team, most NZ national teams have the word "black" in their name.

What the hell is "The People's Crest"?

The hats for Japan and Chinese Taipei use the insignias that their respective countries used as air force roundels when they were fighting each other in WW2 (and before that, actually). I don't know if that's suitable for a supposedly friendly competition such as baseball.

What the hell is "The People's Crest"?

From peoplescrest.org:
THE PEOPLE'S CREST IS AN ORIGINAL DESIGN INTENDED TO CAPTURE THE PASSION OF BEING AN AMERICAN SOCCER FAN. THE CREST WAS CREATED BY M.WILLIS, AND IS MAINTAINED BY CLEAN SHEET CO.

WE'VE MADE THE ENTIRE DESIGN, INCLUDING DIGITAL COMPONENTS, VECTOR ART, AND SOURCE FILES FREELY AVAILABLE TO THE US SOCCER COMMUNITY, RIGHT HERE, FOR PERSONAL USE. DOWNLOAD IT, ADAPT IT, REMIX IT. MAKE IT YOURS. THE IDEA, HOPEFULLY, IS TO CREATE A TALISMAN THAT AMERICAN SOCCER FANS FEEL IS THEIR OWN.

Emphasis mine. So, basically, it's just another of his designs.

The cap actually worn by Israel in the WBC is pretty great as it is, although I'd probably have removed the "I" and just left the star.

Those are very neat. I'd probably buy the South Korea one.
