Indians make Johnny Damon signing official

The 38-year-old reached agreement with Cleveland last week on a one-year, $1.2 million pending a physical. Damon, who needs 277 hits to reach 3,000 for his career, is at the team’s complex in Goodyear, Ariz., preparing to join the Indians. Damon can earn another $1.4 million in performance bonuses.

I know we sort of had a thread on this already, but it’s official now. And we finally have a dollar figure. The trek to 3000 continues!

I'd like Mr. Damon to confirm this story via text, if possible.

7 teams played for, all in the AL. What a throwback!

I can go -- within 10 minutes -- to a filing cabinet and I can pick up my real employment contract and I can go, 'See? Look! Here it is. Here it is.' Damon has dodged everything. He dodges questions, he doesn't answer anything. And why? Because he's hiding something.

I can't see how Damon for $1.2-$2.6M isn't a better option than Raul Ibanez.

I once accidentally dialed the Damon household in KC due to transposing the last two digits of a friend's phone number. His family voice mail greeting was unremarkable.

I hope Damon and Lowe get together for some beers and prank call Kevin Brown about game 7...

Javier Vazquez needs to be pranked too. They might as well have put me on the mound.

Ha, I was going to say Vazquez but Brown seemed more likely to have that anger that rewards a prank call.

I really should have looked at the preview. The first part should have been in quotes...

[2] Heh. When the deal was announced I thought "he only needs the White Sox and Twins for a full division tour now." Then I realized he was just as far along on the AL East as well, needing the Orioles and Blue Jays. And I could totally picture him any any of those four uniforms!

They should stick with Vazquez - Brown might beat the #### out of the two of them at the same time.

I was thinking the other day...the Angels and Jays have shared quite a few players over the past 10 years or so.

Brad Fullmer
Vernon Wells
Justin Speier
Scott Downs
Juan Rivera
Jeff Mathis
Kelvim Escobar
David Eckstein
Troy Glaus
Shea Hillenbrand
Kevin Gregg
Bengie Molina
Jose Molina
Scott Schoeneweis
goging way back Glenallen Hill
Sal Fasano
Raul Mondesi
Edgardo Alfonzo
Darren Oliver
Mike Napoli (if you're being cute)

not to mention the fact that Jarrod Washburn looks a lot like Roy Halladay!

Is it just me or is that a lot for two teams to share? Especially considering very few of those have come from trades (just Wells-Rivera-Napoli off the top of my head)

Does anyone realizer how bad of a job his agent did with him? Going back to the 2010 off season; he rejected the Yankee offer to end up getting less money to play first for Detrit hen for tampa. Then again this offseason again - there is no way teh Yankees would not have signed him for 1 million but he held out for more, which again he did not get. Then again, I may be wrong.

Why do I blame his agent? becasue I belive that Johnny is not the brightest bulb and if the great wizard Boras says "I can get you more" he woudl beleive it. Again.

Back in the '90s, the Astros, Padres, and Tigers traded amongst each other weekly.

Well, he did get more. And he's not assured everyday playing time in NY, which he may have been seeking.

He definitely would not have played every day with the Yankees, and it is definitely what he was seeking.
