Indians’ Sizemore blames theft for racy Web photos

Almost nothing to see here. Move along.

Steamy photos of the Cleveland Indians’ Grady Sizemore have popped up online, and the All-Star center fielder complains they were stolen from his girlfriend’s e-mail.

Sizemore tells The Plain Dealer of Cleveland that the nearly nude pictures were meant only for her. He told the newspaper Sunday night that legal action is being taken.

A Web site still featuring a dozen photos of Sizemore in various states of undress Monday morning also posted a note from a Major League Baseball investigator asking that they be taken down. The message said the pictures were stolen from a personal computer and directed the site to preserve any related records in anticipation of a criminal complaint.

I tried to think of a quip involving a twist on the word "Sizemore," but it simply can't be done.

It's unbelievable given the history of these things that famous people keep makinf these phots/videos and then are shocked, shocked when they become public. If it's not a PR stunt, he's a moron.

Listen people, if you don't want naked photos/videos fo you/your wife/your girlfriend/etc. to circulate, don't make 'em in the first place. Otherwise, the odds of them getting out eventually are like 98.7%.

I don't think people want to see racy pictures of me.

My wife has stated numerous times that she thinks we should get dressed to take the garbage cans out to the curb or whatever; in my opinion a sleepy shirt and sweat pants are good enough. If the neighborhood kids complain, my plan is to say, "Behold! The ravages of time!!!!"

Indeed. I would have preferred they didn't mail in the defense in those last 20 minutes, but I suppose it is hard to defend to the death when you're up 5-0. Going to be a tough next couple of games though, Man U, at Birmingham and (in a big one) at Bolton.

PS:

1) I question the erotic judgment of anyone who calls those photos "steamy."
2) Nice body, boring bathroom, and a limited imagination. (And this from a woman who spotted young Mr. Sizemore when the Tribe brought him up at the end of the 2004 season for about 40 games and has often pondered her own quips on the name "Sizemore.")

He should just embrace their release.

Doesn't matter how famous or rich someone is, most folks start with zero judgment. By the time they reach the age of majority most folks have some degree of good judgment. If you rated judgment on a 1 to 10 scale with 10 equaling never doing stupid stuff that could haunt you later, then less than 1% clock in at 10. Most in our early 20's probably enter adult life at a 2 or 3. Then after stupidity bites us (DUI, bad break up with someone on wrong side of the crazy scale, bad investment, misuse of a power tool, etc) our carefulness usually spikes. After this, hopefully for him, Sizemore's judgment should improve. For most folks that's how we mature. When stupidity hurts, you get smarter. That isn't universal. Some folks never catch on that they have some measure of control over the embarrassing crap that comes their way.

Any of you with teenagers should understand that just being told various things are bad ideas does nothing to deter the young and brave. Young people either need to feel the pain for themselves or know a friend/acquaintance who did "X" and got a bad result to believe that precautions make sense.

Grady's got his ronnie woo-woo in a cup of teabagged water, and we haven't had any wordplay there, either. A golden age of maturity has tragically descended upon us.

I'm glad we have the off-season where we have time to investigate news events like this. They bring us together in ways that actual baseball cannot. For example, SABRSusan has been with us most of the year and was finally prompted to post by Grady's naughty bits. So welcome Susan, welcome Miss June, and hello shootyerotique.com. You know, one good thing about Shooty's low profile is that the office smut filter won't catch me for at least a week.

I mean, I feel for Grady in that he didn't want these pictures to be public, and they've apparently been made public through explicitly criminal action. That's too bad. On the other hand, it certainly is the case that if you're a celebrity - and even if you're not - you shouldn't place documents or photographs on the internet in any way unless you're ok with the consequences of these documents or photographs being made public. This in no way exonerates the ######## who make these things public, but it's got to be how we engage with photos of our naked bodies.

On the third hand, damn. Damn.
