Indians’ struggles continue as painful collision leads to Rays’ inside-the-park homer

Despite posting a 25-24 record this season, 2019 really hasn’t been the Cleveland Indians year.

Because of injuries, inconsistency and their own lack of urgency during the offseason, the Indians have looked much closer to average than a team hoping to win its fourth straight AL Central title.

Thursday’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays did nothing to change that perception. In fact, one painful play only further highlighted Cleveland’s malaise.

Indians outfielders Leonys Martin and Oscar Mercado experienced a malfunction at the junction while attempting to chase down Kevin Kiermaier’s flyball in the sixth inning. The result of which led to a painful collision and allowed Kiermaier to race around the bases with a game-breaking three-run inside-the-park home run.

Are we sure this isn’t Major League, but happening in the real world?

i said a lil sumthin to mah tribe fan friendes about how it is a good thing to have ballplayers who can hit and field but they just shrugged and pointed to the pitching and i sez - good pitchers have bad years and also, injuries happen and then there is no hitting and no pitching and this is not a good thing

they disbelieved me, i guess

Umm, 25-24 is pretty darn close to average. I'm guessing the writer never actually took a statistics course.

In case you haven't noticed, and judging by the attendance you haven't, the Indians have managed to win a few ball games, and are nowhere near the cellar.

What broke Trevor Bauer? His numbers look like Wild Thing's. He need glasses?

Indians outfielders Leonys Martin and Oscar Mercado

Well you see, that's your problem right there.

Michael Brantley has out-WARed the entire Indians OF by 2.1 to -0.5.

Jose Ramirez is not likely to continue hitting .200 all season.

6- True, but that’s not gonna solve the problem of Jordan Luplow being their best outfielder.

That's not fair, I mean who knew they were going to have to play 3 OFs each and every game?
