Inside Mickey Callaway’s steps toward modernizing the Mets | New York Post

Better coaching through better technology.

“We have enough storage on our computers, we can put as much on there as we want,” he said. “When you are working on those drills, you need that side angle, especially for pitchers. That open angle is huge.’’

Any older Met fans like myself remember the absolute, quaking fear throughout MLB that Davy Johnson was going put a COMPUTER IN THE DUGOUT?

"Losing is a disease."

I was just wondering what people around here prefer the starting rotation to be.

Doesn't matter. There's no way the top 6 all make it out of camp healthy. Any 5 of Thor, deGrom, Harvey, Matz, Wheeler, and Vargas would be a success, and you could sub in Lugo for either Wheeler or Vargas and that would be fine too.

No faith in Gsellman?

I'd like to see Thor, deGrom, Harvey, Matz and Wheeler just so we could finally have at least one go through the Rotation That Was Promised.

My recollection is that this was on balance met with intrigue, not ridicule. Of course, I was only 14 at the time...

Boy was he bad in 2017. Fancy metrics said he lost the superior spin rate that (may have) fueled his nice run in 2016.

I'm assuming by this you mean five starts in a row.

Yes. I'd hold out no hope whatsoever for anything lasting any longer than that.

Sorry, Syndergaard was roasted by a dragon.

As Doc Rivers would say, the Mets optimal starting rotation has still never lost a series.

I just hope Matz isn't bumped to the bullpen. If that means bumping Wheeler or Harvey or Vargas, I'm fine with any of those to start the year.
   14. Russlan thinks deGrom is da bomb Posted: February 23, 2018 at 09:29 PM (#5629901)
I don't think that the Wheeler is higher up on the hierarchy than Matz, meaning that assuming both are healthy, Matz would be more likely to be on the rotation than Wheeler.

no scenario with Matz in the bullpen
If he's healthy, he starts. period
