International Baseball/Honkbal/Whatever-the-german-word-for-Baseball-is Update for August 30th

Two reasonably good European leagues (as in, I’m pretty sure they actually play on at least High School Level fields) had championships this weekend.

HEIDENHEIM HEIDEKOEPFE won the German Baseball Bundesliga.

And from one of Europe’s two premiere leagues (the other being Italy), Rotterdam’s DOOR Neptunus won the Holland Series 3 games to 1, winning Game 4 with a 3-run eighth to top the hometeam, Hoofddorp’s Konica Minolta Pioniers. Neptunus is the Honkbal equiv. of the Yankees, this is their 12th Dutch Title, and to the best of my knowledge the other team with that many (the Haarlem Nicols) is long folded and/or relegated.

And finally, here’s the TV schedule for the Baseball World Cup that’s… coming up. MLB Network will, of course, completely ignore the event, following MLB policy of if it doesn’t get us money it doesn’t exist. But people over in Europe who have EuroSport2 are in luck! Same goes to anyone who wants to bootleg Cuban TV or the Italian version of PBS.
