Isotopes blend punk and baseball

The Sex Pistols challenged authority. The Ramones mastered the three-chord song. Bad Religion wrote lyrics related to social responsibility.

The Isotopes Punk Rock Baseball Club sings about baseball. And baseball players. They call themselves “the world’s greatest baseball punk band.”

I would have paid a huge amount of money to watch the Ramones jam inside a hypobaric chamber for 30 minutes. In the name of science, of course.

Seriously, these are the things that youtube is made for. I spent half an hour in one of those things once, and at the end, couldn't sign my own name; I'd added 3 + 5 to equal 18 (?) and had for some reason decided to tie both of my shoes together. Double-tied.

And I was top of my class. Most of my classmates just farted and laughed. And you have no idea how funny farting is, until you've done it, while hypoxic.

Bad Religion is awesome.

That is all.

There is a punk softball team in San Francisco, called Bat Flag. Their logo, and at-bat music, are exactly as great as you might expect.

I'm a midtempo guy to my core but this is just freaking great.

I thought the lyrics to "The Ballad of Rey Ordonez" were rather touching. Plus the video has some great highlights, including my favorite, the left fielder-to-catcher relay throw getting the out at the plate. Sublime.

gef, I'm disappointed in you.

How did the Isotopes get Steve/Jimmy from Shameless to front their band?

Really enjoyed Bad Religion as snotty teenagers an eon ago. They've gotten progressively less interesting since.

Surprised Repoz hasn't chimed in with another Baseball Altamont reference. :D

When they were teenagers they made teenage punk music. Now they're adults. I like the evolution.

It's like Subaru, but for baseball.

Punk is now officially dead.

Bad Religion hasn't made a great album in like 20 years, but since Mr. Brett came back they're at least good for several great songs per album, which is more credible than most old guys, no matter what the style of music they play.
