Jason Kendall names Brian Giles, Bobby Crosby in connection to Adderall

“Kendall’s innovative spirit remains vitally strong today.”

Shocking divorce papers filed by Jason Kendall’s estranged wife Chantel have placed the Kansas City Royals catcher at the center of a new baseball drugs scandal involving Adderall. Now, RadarOnline.com has learned that according to Kendall’s sworn deposition, it’s not just him that is caught up in the furor surrounding the use of Adderall - Kendall also name checks LA Dodgers right fielder Brian Giles and Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Bobby Crosby.

In the papers, Kendall disclosed that Brian Giles is someone that he has known since 1997 and when asked if Giles uses Adderall, Kendall said, “I believe so.” He didn’t know if Giles was currently taking it.

Kendall was also asked if he knew if Bobby Crosby took Adderall and he said, “I don’t know,” before going on to admit that the two had discussed Adderall “more than one time.”

Kendall testified that his dosage of Adderall was decreased when he wasn’t training and that he took from 30-60 milligrams since he first starting taking it in 2006. Kendall said he took 60 milligrams of Adderall during Spring 2009 and ending in October 2009 and that in November it was decreased to 45 milligrams.

Kendall was also asked if he ever took “greenies” which is “a diet pill that was used in baseball.” Kendall’s lawyer instructed him not to answer because of “his fifth amendment right against self incrimination.”

This shocking divorce is going to reveal all kinds of secrets Jason Kendall isn't sure of.

Don't a large number of players have scripts for ADD meds to get around the amphetamine ban?

I'm outraged that Bobby Crosby has used drugs to rewrite the record book.

If there is a way to send Bobby Crosby and Jason Kendall to jail, or the glue factory, over this, I am all for that.

if drug usage was a reason for Dayton Moore to void contracts, he would have gotten rid of Guillen a long time ago

60 mgs is a LOT of Adderall. I'm not a doctor, but in my experiences that's double the most anyone is actually prescribed Adderall.

What's the point of deposing him about Giles and Crosby during his divorce proceedings?

I wonder if Adderall is now going to sue Kendall? I'm sure that the last thing they want to advertise the effectiveness of the drug is to have Crosby, Giles and Kendall as poster boys.

The Crosby thing is funny, but then Manny Alexander was caught with steroids and Crosby is Jimmie Foxx in comparison to the other Manny.

If I can use it to cram for a final I'm fine with letting Bobby Crosby suck ass with its aid.

I didn't post this because I was burned by deja vu the last time I posted a Mets article, but here Travis Blackley talks about how he was prescribed Adderall but then stopped taking it because it kept him awake at night, and since then has been ineffective as a starting pitcher because of his inability to focus. I say he's a good part of the Mets bullpen this year.

He's been hit by a pitch on 248 occasions. Apparently he's been snitching for years.

Yes. There have been a ton of players who have been able to get therapeutic use waivers. The rate is definitely well above that of the general population.

Adderall is a great name for a PED. Will there be a new steroid called Bulkimup?

When Tiger Woods is deposed in his matrimonial proceeding, can we expect to learn about the "alternative" sex lives of some other golfers? Gee, I can't wait.

And coincidentally, it almost quadrupled after they started testing for drugs.

Why would anyone need a waiver before the drugs were banned?

#15. It's all I ever think of when I see the add for some prescription medicine (used for what, I don't know) called "Abilify". I just love that name. If not a PED itself, it would certainly work as a Roger Clemens invented verb.

"Congressman. At no point in my career did I ever abilify myself through the use of steroids. Andy must have misremembered that."
   19. AROM Posted: March 12, 2010 at 05:14 AM (#3477882)
Judging by the 2009 numbers of this trio, Adderall is no performance enhancer. It's a suck enhancer for your offense.

I'm no lawyer or expert on this subject, but I'm guessing that it was for his wife (and her attorney) to exert leverage. They probably threatened Kendall that they would reveal information about his drug use and that they'd embarrass his former teammates, hoping that he'd give in to avoid that.

miss remember, i know quite a few people who are percsribed 60mg or more of adderall a day.

IIRC, they were banned before that, too - just with no defined penalty or means of enforcement if the ban was broken.

I'm not sure about that. This is certainly true of steroids and possibly true of greenies, but the whole idea of ADH meds as performance enhancers that should be regulated is a bit more recent.

Abilify is a sleep aid, right? Maybe it could help guys like Blackley who find that Adderall gets them too amped up. I mean, what could possibly go wrong with a strategy like that?

Adderall IS a "greenie". Half amphetamine, half dextroamphetamine.

Am I the only one who finds it weird that they described Giles as LA Dodgers right fielder? I mean, obviously he never played for the Dodgers, and he is no longer with the Dodgers.

Sorry if this came out before he retired, but it just felt weird to read it like that. Maybe he played a spring training game or two.

Jason Kendall’s estranged wife Chantel

Chantel Kendall (on Adderall?) you'd be estranged too, with a name like that.

I care very little about steroids, but I care infinitely less about Adderall. I once was given a unsolicited prescription for that medication by a doctor I've never even met; I find it hard to take it seriously as an licit substance.
