Is it bad when the pitcher you just signed has a lifetime OPS just 18 points lower than your starting shortstop?

I don't care what anyone says, this is the marquis signing of the offseason.

Jason Marquis is still pitching?

Wow.

The Dbacks' acquisition of Jason Marquis last year has replaced the Tigers' acquisition of Jarrod Washburn as the most unhelpful deadline deal in recent memory.

Maybe they can DH for Butera when Marquis pitches.

I vote for that time when the Pirates (of all teams) acquired Matt Morris (of all people.)

The thread still makes me laugh.

Marquis has got to hold the record for most playoff rosters not made.* He's been in the big leagues for parts of 12 seasons. His teams have made the playoffs 11 times (all but the 2010 Nats wound up in the postseason). He's pitched in the playoffs in only five of them.

* If such a thing were a record.
