Jeremy Giambi traded to Philadelphia for John Mabry

Allaird Baird has officially possesed the body of Billy Beane. There’s got to be a minor leaguer they are missing here or something, right? Thanks to Arthur Copeland for alerting me to this incredibly strange event. Are the planets lined up or something? Is Billy Beane really a werewolf and there is a full moon in Oakland?

I can't help thinking that the A's traded Giambi mainly because of off-the-field issues. But even if they were simply dumping him, you'd think they would have gotten more for him than John Mabry. Anyway, that's my take. Anybody else have any thoughts?

I posted this the day of the trade. I hadn't refreshed my browser for an hour or so, and didn't see the post Sean put up around 4 p.m..

When I refreshed after starting this, I saw a 100 post thread already on the topic, so I immediately closed this one.

Yet now it lives, like Rasputin. Or Wayne Fontes.

12/19/02. He'll stick out the season. 12 is my lucky number, and Dave Righetti (in a 4 way tie for my favorite player) was number 19. Seems logical enough for this thread.
