Jhonny Peralta’s name found in records of doctor linked to PED scandal

It’s a regular Sweet Lou Whittaker Chambers of Horrors!

Detroit Tigers shortstop Jhonny Peralta is named in the records of Tony Bosch, the director of the Biogenesis wellness clinic in Coral Gables, Fla., that is the target of an MLB investigation into performance-enhancing drugs, according to sources familiar with the records.

Peralta brings to 12 the number of baseball players connected to Bosch’s notes, and adds to one of the two threads that have emerged in the Biogenesis case: Peralta is the fifth client of the ACES agency of Seth and Sam Levinson and with an association with Juan Nunez, a former runner for the agency, to be connected to clinic records.

Previous ACES clients named in reports are Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz, Nationals pitcher Gio Gonzalez, Mariners catcher Jesus Montero and Blue Jays outfielder Melky Cabrera. Nunez was banned by baseball after he was tied to Cabrera’s attempt to stage a web site selling a fake PED.

Peralta does not appear to be directly tied to PEDs in the records, as was also the case with Montero. The Levinsons referred comment to an attorney for Peralta, Barry Boss, who released this statement on behalf of Peralta: “I have never used performance enhancing drugs. Period. Anybody who says otherwise is lying.”

I don't care play some baseball.

Let's just arrest every baseball player who's ever visited a doctor's office and throw them all in jail at this point.

This just in ... the notebook lists one S Blanks and several references to somebody nicknamed Sugarbear.

Also an arcane entry for "SF = Mr BR"

Anybody who doesn't care to comment is clearly part of ARod's VAST CONSPIRACY OF SILENCE (tm)

This just in: Bud Selig's DNA found on dress of assistant to son of doctor of defunct clinic thought to have had a passing acquaintance to somebody who knew some baseball players.

I was unconvinced of Peralta's innocence until I saw that "Period." after his denial. Anyone who takes the time to spell out punctuation clearly means business. Exclamation mark.

What Peralta is saying is that he took so many female fertility drugs, he now has a period.

Is there going to be an article posted for every player found in these records? If so, why are they appearing one per day, instead of getting them all over with at once?
   8. PS is probably a high functioning idiot Posted: February 06, 2013 at 09:52 PM (#4364648)
Well, we'd better prepare the next leak. Take all the players who get suspended between now and then, and let people pay to "implicate" players of their choice. Once we've made enough profit, connect it to a random medical office somewhere with some alibis, leak the results, and let the media do the rest.

To be fair, his name was found written on the back cover of the notebook: "Mr. And Mr. Jhonny Peralta" written many times with lots of hearts and flowers all around it.

Ben Revere
Jamey Carroll
Ruben Tejada

Those are the five guys with 500+ PA last year who hit the fewest home runs, so they obviously have the most incentive to cheat this year.

Just names, eh? It's all about the names.

Former Marlins' SS Alex Gonzalez
Johnny Peralta*
Jonny Peralta*
Frankie Ratcliff
PEDroia Scandal

*In grade school one classmate tried to frame another by painting a signed stick figure next to the other's locker. This set-up proved unfruitful due to the target's well known slavish adherence to reproducing all stick figure type characters in a low set, squared likeness of Calvin. How common is the 'Jh'onny spelling? I'm having fun imagining Peralta families across Michigan receiving unexpected parcels.

I will be crushed if Jamey Carroll pulls a Barry Bonds and ruins his Hall of Fame chances by juicing late in the game.

How common is the 'Jh'onny spelling?

It's just used in Spanish-speaking countries, because "Jonny" would be pronounced "Honny".
