Jim Deshaies named to Cubs’ TV booth — report

Former Houston Astros pitcher and broadcaster Jim Deshaies will be the Cubs’ TV analyst, replacing Bob Brenly, according to a report by CBSSports.com.

Deshaies, Dan Plesac, Eric Karros and Todd Hollandsworth were among the leading candidates for the opening.

I've never heard Deshaies, but I feel like he has to be the best choice out of the rumored candidates, just by default. So I'm happy enough.

I have listened to/watched him do the Astros games for years, and while I am not an Astros fan, I really appreciate his knowledge of the game and objectivity. He is very very good. Cubs fans will be happy. I will miss him here in Texas.
