Jose Canseco plans to travel the country trying to break home run records

The former MLB slugger is hopping in an RV for 10 weeks and traveling the U.S. and Canada for a “Home Run Tour” in which he’s trying to break the records for longest baseball and softball home runs.

As far as ideas go…this is one.  They’ve got a graphic and everything.

I still wish we had a "Whore" tag for any Canseco article.

Next year's softball record book should have an asterisk.

At least this moronic Canseco gimmick is about the one thing he did well, as opposed to previous moronic Canseco gimmicks involving celebrity boxing, MMA, poker, reality shows and supposed political campaigns.

I don't know why this reminded me of this, but in the early 1970's after he was the NFL number one draft pick, I played in a slow-pitch softball game with John Matuszak (he was from a nearby city in Wisconsin). By looking at him, it was clear that Matuszak would hit the ball a country mile at the least. Our outfielders played about 100 feet beyond the outfield fences. Of course, as you can guess, he struck out every time up, never once even fouling a ball off. He had never played softball before, so it goes, and a guy 6' 8" tall has an immense strike zone for those super highly arced slow-pitch pitches.

I'd rather watch baseballs bounce off his head and over the fence.

Is Canseco retired, finally? He did manage one HR with Fort Worth last year, giving him 559 for his career.

We should invite him to one of the BBTF games.

I'll even box him after the game, make sure we get our money's worth from the appearance.

His goats could graze in the outfield. Saves money on a grounds crew.

And nobody has to clean up after his goats, because they wear diapers.

I would have included "pitching" in this rundown.

I was futzing around with the oracle on B-R today, and it considers Canseco retired. But it does not consider Ruben Riviera retired. YMMV.
